Instant Gratification/Pacification Model: CONFIRMED!

Auteur's picture

GG has received several pieces of mail, in particular from VD's (SD stb 13) school.

He'll leave them out for ages; I usually wait a week or so then file them. I have to be very "in tune" with GG as if I file it too soon and he has a "bone to pick with me" he'll assume I threw it out.

Well VD's report card has been hanging out for several weeks now; he's probably thinking he'll get another call from the County Counselor for a possible 4th attempt to "reunite" with VD. I have my doubts. He'll be stupid if he does (she's stood him up thrice now) But I digress.

Well if I wasn't sure before that VD was RAISED on the instant gratification/pacification model, all of the special education staff's comments CONFIRM it:

"Unless VD FEELS like it, she will NOT apply study strategies to improve her memory" (Editor's note: VD's memory is FINE; she can remember all the words to any top 40 song since she was five)

"If VD perceives anything as Social Studies related she has a tendency to give up before she even gets started."

CONFIRMED!!

My ss20 wont do anything if he doesnt feel like it. Of course my DH always has an excuse for it....My ss20 can remember in detail all sorts of stuff only WHEN IT INTERESTS HIM!! Only the fun stuff!! Now remembering to turn an assignment in thats a different story. 5 straight failed semesters in community college!! :jawdrop:

Oh yeah, but the BEHEMOTH makes sure everything stays on the "politically correct" level.

"Kid is lazy due to lazy parents; clear failure of parental duty to exercise authority."

Is what *I'D* like to see on the report.
