It's official- OSD not coming back

The two older SDs have been with their grandparents in another state all summer. Only the younger one is coming back today. The older one decided to finish high school there. She says she likes it more there, her friends here have already graduated and she has a job there. So they decided to let her stay.

I can't say I blame her. Her mom just moved in with her BF and two sons. I am guessing she was being smart to avoid the blended family crazy train that was arriving in her life. Also, I think she understands her grandparents are much more hands on and will make sure she does well in school meanwhile her mother has turned into lazy pants and has zero boundaries and expectations these days. Funny how kids really do crave structure.

I will miss her. She really is a sweet girl 90% of the time. But I do have to say that when I met FDH there were 4 kids at visitation and it was hard. We are down to two now. It's getting a lot less hectic and far cheaper to feed and entertain them when they are here. I know FDH isn't thrilled about this but I'm not complaining.

I know. I am going to send her a message on FB later and tell her that I will miss her very much and congratulate her on making such a tough good decision for herself and wish her the best.

I think it's hard as parents to let to of our babies, but I also look forward to the change in the dynamics of our relationships! It will be nice to visit/hang out with my kids when they are All Growed Up Wink of course, my kids have some cool-ass parents, so they are gonna be pretty cool themselves Wink I think it will be nice for you to enjoy your steps (you sound like you have a fairly good thing going on with her at least) as 'adulthood' approaches, you are blessed.

I used to look forward to enjoying my SD's in that way, silly me, thinking we had a real relationship Sad
