OT - Thirsty Thursday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

It's Thursday and we're one day closer to the weekend! Well, closer for those of who don't work Saturday/Sunday.

It's a fresh 42 degrees Give rose outside with a breeze and it makes me think of snuggling up on the couch with my hubby, legs covered with a soft afghan, and a mug filled with steaming mulled cider.

Are you a PSL (pumpkin spice latte)? Hot chocolate (dark or milk? with or without marshmallows?)? What about a glass mug of mulled wine? Name your Fall favorite!

I like hot chocolate in small quantities. It's generally too rich for my blood. Though, if I am going to drink it, I make it from scratch using sweetened condensed milk, 2% milk, cinnamon, and a mix of milk and dark chocolate chips/bars. Melt it all together and pour that over half a mug of marshmallows or fluff, and drink.

My body can handle about one of those a year.

Definitely DARK chocolate, Lt Dad! I confess: I like to torch those marshmallows after they rise from the depths...

I'm definitely plain jane coffee. A little creamer, a little sugar in some cheap coffee and I'm good. Nothing fancy in my pantry.

It seems plain to me with all the varieties available. No fancy smancy here! And YES I love hot tea with honey and lemon!!!

Plain for me is black coffee with nothing added to it.

Hot tea with honey and lemon is positively medicinal!!!

I like hot chocolate!!! But I cna't do super sweet or super thick... Normally I make it with dark chocolate. Though there's a mix I found last year (I have to hunt... I forgot the brand) that was a salted caramel. Was beautifully not very sweet and not too thick!

I'm always sort of disappointed in hot chocolate.  Somehow no matter what recipe I use it seems not too far from that packet stuff.   But last year I heated up some full fat chocolate milk, and it was exactly what I was looking for.  I'm sure that is much too rich and sweet for most, but it's what I like.   So easy.  But I still just do it occassionally.

It’s still in the 80s here...

I’m not a fan of overly sweet drinks. But, I am a fan of getting a dark chocolate liquid truffle drink from the local Chocolate Lounge when it’s bitter cold outside. My neighborhood tea house has an amazing CBD chai latte I’ve been loving, too.

I’ll partake in a few PSL, but I like mine with cashew milk or oat milk. No whip, no marshmallow for me. Extra spice.

I had my first Chai a couple of weeks ago. It was tasty, but I should have gotten the smallest one. SO sweet!

I love hot chocolate. We have a great brand of organic dark chocolate. Yummy!! I drink it without sugar, and a dash of cream.

Or on rainy evening, glühwein is goes down a treat.

(I tried that pumpkin spiced nonsense in a tea - blech! Tea is tea and should be drunk as tea - not to be adulterated with weird stuff.)

Myss.Tique! I was just thinking about you!!!

I'm one of those who thinks pumpkin spice should be in pie. Smile

I am not a big warm drink person with the exception of alcohol, I don't prefer to drink my calories.... occasionally I will have a hot chocolate... or latte... but I am more likely to want to warm up with a stew or soup.  I did used to like Gluhwein when I lived in Europe.. we would sneak it on our HS ski trips... a sweet spiced wine.

Glowing with embers, flames licking hypnotically about!

(the only downside is cleaning up the ashes)  Even hauling in the wood is a pleasantry!

Pumpkin, Leaf and Harvest scented wax; decorating for Autumn and Halloween!  Cider and donuts (my nutritionist will KILL me)

My paternal grandmother cooked on a woodburning stove. Oh, but that lady could pump out pasties and pies and all kinds of perfectly baked goodies. I miss it!

I once had Apple Cider Donuts - they were to die for.

And we sat outside, in our covered back terrace rea, in front of our lovely firepit (propane), drinking some old vine Zin after a meal of tri-tip. Then I went to a nice tart chardonnay while the rain pattered above us, and a refreshing breeze whiffled through. That is how its done in California. LOL. Love Octobers. Should have gotten married in October, but I wanted to keep dates simple (ie my birthday+our wedding anniversary same month, like my mom did) The light is fading but still clear, its warm-ish, with a little cooler bite at the end.

Pumpkin Curry is what I like, as far as pumpkin goes. Otherwise my warm drink of choice is a robust coffee, some milk and a good story to read.

Robust coffee... yes!!!

I've never had pumpkin curry. Interesting.
