So reason 879 I should have disengaged more

Aunt Agatha's picture

I have to admit I've been avoiding blogging about things here.  Mostly because I realize it's been a slow moving train wreck.

Eldest SD went into an eating disorder clinic in March.  I was told she was doing better in April when I let  her (18 YO to be 19 in July) move in.  It was medical, I was told and she couldn't live with her mom ( who she got into multiple fights with in the  clinic in front of the doctors). Crazy Pants is truly part of the problem...

Will she or won’t she

Since there has been a number of failure to launch posts, I'm taking bets over here.

Oldest Sd is supposed to be off to university in less than 2 weeks.  However, the plot has thickened!

By way of a backstory, BM has been out of work since early February.  Not at all COVID related - she was let go long before jobs started disappearing due to the pandemic.  As she worked for my former employer, it took about 2 seconds to find out she was let go for being incompetent.  Frankly, I was surprised she lasted as long as she did.

So very delusional

Last weekend before the oldest Sd heads off to college, where she will be promptly quarantined for 2 weeks in her dorm room.

Last visit with her at our house (not happy about it because there is still a pandemic on).  Of course, fiancé has been trying to plan a fun!!! Weekend!!! For his baby's last time before going severa hours away.  Most plans haven't been working out as anything remotely involving social distancing have been booked for weeks.  But there are plans to go to the beach one day.

As summer turns to fall, a reminder for Fiancé

As some of you may remember, my fiancé's 18 YO stole some airplane bottles of alcohol in Jan from me, several months after having gotten in trouble for bringing alcohol to school for a field day.  Heck, this kid does something idiotic and stupid just about every 6 months.   Nothing she does is too serious, but I draw the line at theft (and frankly suspect she's stolen from us before, but wasn't able to catch her in the act).

Since then, I've had a hard rule she is not allowed to be in the house alone, period.  I've been nothing but kind, so won't put up with that BS.

No, BM, just no

So fiancé tells me this morning he received a text from BM, asking when he would meet today to pick up the 3 teen SDs.

Mind you:

1) they discussed at the outset that due to stay at home orders in hard hit state that stay at home would be followed.

Proof I have lost it!

Last night, my SO and I got engaged! I can't believe I'm signing on for this full time! *lol*

I guess after almost 10 years together, I can at least say I know what I'm getting myself into...

A huge thanks to everyone who has shares stories and advice.  It certainly helps keep me sane in step parent land!

Update to Saturday Night’s the Night

Aunt Agatha's picture

So my SO contacted his oldest counselor to let her know.  It ends up his dailighter stopped counseling again as her grandparents took back their car as they were headed to FL for the winter.  Counselor said she was very worried about daughter.

SO and the counselor decided to offer daughter another counseling session where SO would participate to discuss how disappointed he was that she stole alcohol from us and lied to us.

Saturday Night’s the Night Alright - Vent

The oldest skid in my life has been an on and off juvenile delinquent in her behavior. Minor stuff: sneaking off with boys at 12, getting busted for vaping at her private school, and last May got busted (at the then public school she went to after leaving her private school) for bringing alcohol to school.  She has also been busted here with vaping stuff but assured her dad she was done and knew better.

I feel sorry for the oldest skid

My SO received a call from his oldest skids therapist, asking him to join in on a counseling session.  It ends up, the disgusting BM is hounding skid about nonsense and refusing to pay for any additional therapy sessions (because the counselor sees BM as a huge part of the problem) and cancelling appointments with skids psychologist who proscribes the medication skid is on.

OT a bit: Kids - So hard to understand

Aunt Agatha's picture

So after the great driving permit drama fest a few weeks ago (please see past posts if interested) and my SO telling his daughter she was being selfish for her demands and wrong for cursing him out, they haven’t spoken or done their usual texting.

Last night just before 10, she sends him a FaceTime request.  We are ready for bed, and he texts that he’ll call her tomorrow.  Then come about 5 more I’m a row.  So he figures it must be an emergency and answers it.  What is this emergency that caused so many texts late at night?
