Video Games are Evil, I tell ya. Evil (but I love the respite)

Pecanflower's picture

We are having fits with SS14 and his video game addiction. I know high functioning autistics such as him use video games as a way to escape the world, but it is becoming problematic and counter productive. We used to use the video games as a reward for him. Now...they are used more and more as a method of punishment...taking them away from him; rather than giving him extra time.

"SHE is making me do this!" SHE is being UNREASONABLE!" "SHE IS NUTS!"

He is grounded. SS14 got a C on a test in his best subject in school recently. I know. I know. A "C" is not bad, it's average. But this is his BEST subject, one he has always excelled at. When I looked over the test and the answers he gave, I could tell two things. 1. He was being lazy and wasn't trying to answer the questions at all. Just throw down whatever he thought would work. And 2. If I were his teacher, I would have failed him for penmanship alone.

Absent BioMom Thanksgiving Call Drama

Knew it would happen. It was a holiday afterall. So the Absent BioMom called first thing Thanksgiving Morning. SS14 talked with her for about 10 minutes. Then asked me if I wanted to talk to her.

"No PunkinHead. This is your time to talk to your Mom. I'm okay."
Translation...NO, I don't want to talk to that crazy woman...but I don't want to tell you that, because she is your Mother and I don't want you to know that I KNOW she is a crazy beotch.

Then I hear her over the phone say..."Well....You better let me talk to your Dad."

Thanksgiving Dinner Politics OOOPS

In my family of birth; I am the odd duck; always have been. My Momma (rest her soul) used to laugh and say that she thought I would be a Senator one day; unfortunately, it would be for the wrong party.

Well, yesterday for Thanksgiving; my sister decided to spend it with her Hubby's family. So; it was just DH, SS14, My step-Daddy, and Myself.

Lots of Swamp Land in Louisiana

So, I rarely mention the drama that goes on with my SDs; because they live several states away.
The youngest is 18; just turned. For the past year or so she has been seeing this thug wanna be ass-munch. He is stupid; lazy; greasy; drugged out; criminal; and just not a good kid. I don't care where you come from; I care where you are going...and he is going no where.

He got into trouble; and was given the choice--Boys Town or Juvie. He took Boys Town.

When he gets out; she will be right back with him.

SS14: "I didn't know Dad said that."

Well, we had our Family Meeting last night.

DH held up his side of things and brought the Boom down on SS14, who is now grounded until Saturday morning for his behavior on Monday night.

DH informed him the idea for SS14 to do one of the tasks that caused bratty behavior was all him. "Well, I didn't know you said that, Dad." Said SS14.

Teenagers: Is It Still Considered Infanticide If You Murder Them?

SS14 is just that; a 14 year old. While he is my heart and joy and I love him with everything I have; he is still a teenager and I could strangle him!

I have been his stepmother (full time custody--biomom completely out of the picture) for over 7 years now. He is a high functioning autistic kiddo. I am savvy enough to know the difference between an autistic meltdown and just typical bratty teenage behavior. Last night, he was being a bratty teenager.

A very Bratty teenager.

Weirdest Request from SS14 EVER...OF ALL TIME

I was blown away this weekend. FLUMMOXED. BAMBOOZELED. Completely floored, when SS14 came up to me and said, "Ummm Lisa, can I talk to you about something?"

Meanwhile, DH is on the phone arguing with SD17 who lives multiple states away and is trying to referee an argument between her and SD20.

"Sure, PunkinHead. Wassup?"

"So, I was thinking...maybe...you and Dad should look into adopting or fostering another child. It would be kind of nice to have someone else around my age in the house. You know, I would like a brother to hang out with and do stuff with."

Absent BioMoms Drama gets even weirder

My DH just called me. His ex called him with all sorts of new drama to update us on.
A bit of history: she is a waste of DNA. Has little to no contact with my SS14 who is high functioning autistic with bi-polar disorder who is growing up to be an awesome individual (not that she would ever know it). When she does send him anything or talk to him, she still treats him as if he is 5 years old.
