Remote learning- again and BM DNGAF

1dad4kids's picture

The schools in my city are back to remote learning until after the Easter break. BM texted DH today saying she wouldn't be concerned about the school work this time (as if she was last time) and blah blah. DH didn't acknowledge that and just told her to send SS11's clothes.

She claims the kids need a break. Um, what? They have a break coming up in a week. I'm pretty sure they can go to school on a computer for 5 days.

She just doesn't want to have to parent them. Shocker.

End rant

If we had a nickel for every time we knew this...

Too bad. Is your covid rate high? We are all going back to 4-5 days a week school here.

We have a high rate of the variants here. Some cities here are locked down but we're not quite there yet. The schools were the first step last time though...

My skids told DH that remote learning doesn't work for them because they have IEPs, so it's okay that they're failing. I feel as though I should introduce them to the concept of "compensatory services" which would have them attending summer school to make up all the missed in person "minutes" required by their vague IEPs.

Ugh. SS11 just said to me he didn't want to be on his computer all day (but it's cool if he's gaming with friends) because of his ADHD. I told him kids all over the world neverevenwent back to school so he can suck it up for 4 days lol.

I just want these kids to go to school. SS9 and SS4 are starting to drive me crazy. I'm the one that gets them up for online school and has to hear it when their dad lets them stay up until 11pm . Hes not the one having to wake the boys up every 5 minutes they fall asleep in front of the computer

Online school is awful for most kids. Lots are failing. And it's not just laziness.
