My fiances got married to his ex wife at the age of 18. They had problems after a few years & ex wife decided a baby would fix it. Had baby 6 years into their marrage. She ended up having an affair with 3 diff men that my fiance knows about. To cut a story short, my fiance left her with no regrets. His ex wife promised to change pleaded to give things another go, my fiance had had enough. I came onto the scene about 7 months after their marriage ended. My partner introduced me to his 3y'o daughter a few times & we got along great. Once the ex wife found out, all hell broke loose. He was not allowed to see his daughter for a period of 3 months (until the court intervened), she would send abusive texts, ring at all hours of the night, dress up very suggestivly when ever he went to pick up his daughter & crack onto him. I could kind of handle all of this, as I knew how my partner felt about her & trusted him 100% but what I could not handle was how she tried to poisen my relationship with her daughter. From a very happy little girl the daughter turned into a nightmare. She would hit me, kick me, bite me, scratch me, tell me I was no where near as pretty as her mum. (Coming from a 4 year old!!!!) Over the years as the daughter has grown up (she is now almost and understands the situation she loves me as a mother & seems to block out all the negative things said by her mum. She even tells me what her mum says from time to time and has a little giggle about it. She now thinks it is silly. I think I just had to be patient, I never spoke negativly about her mother in front of her. I think she is a very smart girl & respects me for it. However the ex still tries to cause as much troule and inconvience as she can. I some times think my fiance lets his ex run all over us. He is a very placid, peaceful man who doesnt like to fight or have confrontations. No matter what she does my partner never tells her to back off he just ignores her & lets her do what she wants. I still find this VERY frustrating! I am soooooo glad to have found this site. Hopefully if I have any problems we can nut it out together.
