Ugh, so i stop at subway for one of my rare treats, a turkey wrap, and there it was. A not so rare sighting of a guilt parent dad! How did I know? Well I think I would bet the ranch on this one. He was acccompanying his oversized son who obviously thought the universe revolved around him. He almost smashed into me as he was walking all around cutting in and out of line and not looking where he was going! He was LOUD LOUD LOUD and kept yelling and making loud weird noises. So much so that the sandwich artist (yes they are called that) was startled and jumped. The kid just kept yelling out "hamburg, french fries and a shake" thinking that was funny at a subway! His dad just smiled and chuckled away, proud of his misfit son as he could be. He acted like he was privileged to be in the presense of his genius progeny!!
This kid was an obvious doofus and in school, because of his annoying and obnoxious behaviour, I'm sure the other kids either attack him or avoid him like the plague. He reminded me very much of BF's oldest son two years ago. The kid was probably 10 or 11 but acted like a 2 year old yet was the size of a 14 year old and major league overweight.
I thought about Skippy's dad and that this could be him, except Skippy is already a teenager and this kid ,although the size of one, clearly was not.
The dad was absolutely oblivious to the loud and anti-social obnoxious behaviour. Thought it was CUTE! I doubt there was anything wrong with him mentally (he was "clever" enough to make the "burger and fries" joke), but I'd wager he's on some sort of meds if you know what I mean.
You just can't escape it!!!

saw that in a Wal-Mart once
Spoiled daughter asking her Dad for some make up, and he said, "no, your to young" And she replies with: "Well, when you take me back to Mom's, I'm going to tell, and she will get it for me"....and what did the sucker do, took it off the shelf, and off they went with it! Amazing!"~waiting on the world to change~"
Nothing like kids
holding their parents hostage!!!
OMG
Your BF sounds just like my DH around SS16!!!
Wait until you get to hear how handsome Junior is as a teen!
SS16 is at that awkward stage-16, 6'1" all arms, legs and SEVERE acne with the profile of a camel (especially while eating)-teeth are done in from thumbsucking (dentist is working on that!)
Managed to get DH to take SS to dentist and dermatologist-SS WILL NOT COMPLY WITH THE DR'S MED'S AND ROUTINE AND DH WILL NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH MED'S& SKIN ROUTINE SO SCARRING IS INEVITABLE AND PERFECTLY PREVENTALBE, BUT DH DOES NOT WANT TO HURT SS FEELINGS! ARGGHHH!
DH looks lovingly at (in his mind) Skippy and proceeds to wax eloquently to me on the beauty and intelligence of his progeny ...
I really need the same pair of psychedelic glasses he wears around the house....
Step Parenting – you might need to step back before you step in something!
You don't think he had
You don't think he had autism or torrets syndrome? I could see me making a comment to the father, "Oh, my son's friend has torrets syndrome too, he's a bright kid and my son really like him..." This is the truth, by the way. Or I'd say something like, "Oh, my good friend's step-son is bipolar and autistic as well...I don't know how you parents do it..." This is true, as well, my very good friend does have a step son with these issues and I DON'T know how they do it. I think the kids with torrets and the bipolar/autism are probably better behaved though than the kid you described.
