It's going to be a BEAUTIFUL weekend here

in upstate NY. Warm "indian summer" rain free weather. Leaves displaying their multi-coloured hues. SO much to be accomplished (we heat by woodstove exclusively; who can afford to pay heating bills when CS is so astronomical) We could be getting A LOT accomplished (splitting wood, putting away garden hoses, putting in storm windows, etc.)

(insert sound of two adults working in harmony, stacking wood with no interruptions for "juice" every 15 minutes and enjoying a few adult beverages coming to a SCREECHING HALT aka record needle screeches across the turntable for you oldsters)

I have an impending sense of doom that "Junior" (SS stb 6) will be over this weekend even though he was over last weekend. BF is practically IN LOVE with Junior as he views him as a "mini BF." It's his last futile attempt at salvaging the tail end of his PAS inflicted progeny. He has willingly let BM pound in the PAS by not enforcing his visitation, putting his head in the sand "BM wouldn't do THA-AT," not holding her in contempt and not "fighting fire with fire" over the last four long years. The oldest two are completely marinated in PAS and have little to nothing to do with BF anymore.

I have this to look forward to:

Junior racing in and repeatedly (about 12 times) swinging the small freezer door open and closed for no apparent reason

Junior racing through the house at high speed (BF sees nothing wrong with running in the house) carrying a football and pretending to be playing "real" football. After all, Junior is "all boy."

Junior asking me "where's dad" the millisecond that dad goes out of Junior's peripheral vision. I used the old "somewhere in this house" on him last weekend. The look of mystification was PRICELESS!

Junior automatically turning up his nose after asking "what's for dinner?"

Junior immediately getting bored if we aren't going to a movie, a mall, have a ps/2 game waiting for him, going to a petting zoo, going to a restaurant. Playing outside is INSTANT boredom for Junior. he will pretend to "help" daddy for about 15 minutes or so.

Junior poking/chasing the cats with his foot and making kicking motions toward them.

Junior using his football helmet as a "bucket" and dipping it in swamp water (we live on a wetland) then (and i am not making this up) dumping it on his head!!!!

Junior basically ignoring me and using absolutely NO manners with either daddy or me.

Junior ordering BF around like a Denny's waiter. All the while BF offering Junior a myriad of menu choices for each meal with Junior refusing each one of them. BF will continue to "bargain" with Junior the entire weekend via a lovely 2 day session of guilt parenting:

BF to Junior: "do you want to take a shower now?"
Junior to BF (covered in mud and flaking mud off all over the new laminate floors) "NO!"
BF to Junior: "Well we need showers to keep us clean!"
Junior rolls his eyes at BF and continues to refuse the shower.

BF carting Junior around to his football game. I used to go to these but standing around watching a bunch of 6 year olds (and SD stb 10 who is playing "class C" football) phone it in all the while getting hate stares from BM's community members is a complete waste of time as far as I'm concerned.

Canadian Thanksgiving weekend

Step Parenting – you might need to step back before you step in something!

AND I have Zippy16 for the 4th weekend in a row-Zippy announced at dinner time last night (IN BETWEEN HIS PIMPLES) that he will be with us all weekend yet AGAIN-and I do mean ALL weekend (he never leaves the house)-he is attached to his father's hip at 16-never bonded with his bio-mom (You might wonder where his mother is in all this. So do I, frankly. As we speak, she is sitting a few miles from here in her nice comfortable house-waiting for Zippy to call her as she NEVER calls him)-she is a certifiable NUTBAR-

My Bio son calls to invite us to his house on Sunday-I tell him Zippy will be with us---"Mom-the kid is just wierd"-yes, but he is ours...16 going on 10-Already I need wine.....

AND my blithering, doting DH is SOOO happy Zippy will be with all of us this Thanksgiving-BARF!!!

Oh my!

You two bring back so many memories------and I truly feel for you. I am done with all of that---put my foot down and told my husband to go "visit" his son. He is 16.5 years old and doesn't need to come over to MY house eow so his mom can have a child free weekend. Hell, I raised three children AND NEVER HAD A CHILD FREE WEEKEND-------------AND NEVER WANTED ONE!!!

You both write so well & are sooo funny!

He really needs you doesn't he!

Crayon, you are this kid's last chance to have any sense, be a productive citizen or even learn not to dump swamp water on his own head! If he hurts your kitties all bets are off!!!

And Endora, do they have Proactiv where you are? it is an acne medicine and all these celebrities get on tv and show us their broken out face and how this medicine cured it (it does seem to work!). Bless his heart - I still have acne scars too, but the only way to stop is wash your face or take medicine! fingers crossed he figures it out!

I will be thinking of you all this weekend - I decided I am going to break down and have a drink myself. I don't very much any more but its been a heckuva week!! so cheers!

Crayon, I read your post

Crayon, I read your post about what you did with/for your stepson last weekend. You did a beautiful job. Will his father be around this weekend to help out with the kid? The words "Little Lord Fauntleroy" jump into my mind.
