Step Talk

No matter how hard we try to plan to not let her affect us, she somehow finds a way. This morning was so crazy that I didn't know if I wanted to scream, cry or laugh hysterically!!

It's Bm's weekend to have ss. Ss had a soccer game at 9am, preceded by soccer team pictures at 7:45am. Ss asked Dh if he would tell Bm that ss wanted us to pick him up on the way(since Dh is the coach we had to be there anyway) because Bm is ALWAYS late. Dh asked and Bm agreed. Great. Everything should have worked out. Dh even emailed Bm the picture packet options so Bm could tell us ahead of time what she wanted and we could fill out the order envelope.

I got up this morning at 5:40am to get everything done. We still hadn't heard from Bm about what pictures she wanted so I hadn't filled out the order envelope last night like I wanted to. Dh was getting all of ss soccer gear in the car. Just as we get on our way, ss calls and wanted to know if we are coming. Dh said that we would be there in a couple of minutes. Dh then asked ss if his mom was going to order pictures. That was our first mistake. We should have just ordered ours and let her miss them. So, ss asked Bm. Yes she wants pictures. We arrived at Bm's to pick ss up. He didn't come out for like 5 min. We didn't have that kind of time to wait! Ss finally came out and said that his mom can't get the soccer picture thing to print. Um, she doesn't need to. All we need is her pick of packages and a check. She knew this. Ss went back into tell Bm that. Ss came out again and we could finally leave. Now we were late. Oh and by the way. The woman who is out of work for 3 months and continually tells ss she doesn't have money, didn't get him a birthday gift for that reason, orders a more expensive picture packet than us! hmmmmm

Ss told us that his mom said that Dh could decide if he wanted to bring ss back to Bm's house after pictures and the have her bring him to the game. Dh told ss "no, we would be staying at the soccer fields".

One last stop to get Dh some coffee and we arrived at the soccer fields. Once there, we realized that we had forgotten a jersey for one of the kids that hadn't been showing up for practice where the jerseys were passed out. I volunteered to run home and get it. I told Dh to send someone to the parking lot of the soccer fields to get the jersey when I pulled up. He sent ss. Of course ss didn't make it all the way to the parking lot so Dh had to send another kid. Finally , I got the jersey to them and they could take the picture.

What I didn't know, was that while I was going for the jersey, Dh found out the ss hadn't had anything for breakfast at Bm's house. She called and said she was going to feed him when he came back after the pictures. However, ss said it was up to Dh if he went back to Bm's after the pictures. No one mentioned anything about ss not having ate breakfast.(at 13, ss should have said something about breakfast!!) So then Bm wants to bring ss breakfast from McDonalds right before the soccer game. Dh asked that she didn't get anything too big and heavy or ss would get cramps or get sick. Dh made the mistake of telling ss that his mom was bringing him McDonalds. After talking with Dh, Bm must have changed her mind and decided to bring ss a bag of dry cereal and a warm bottle of water for breakfast. Ss was mad! I luckily didn't get to see all of that because I went home to take the dog out after I dropped the jersey off at the soccer fields.

Finally, there was a soccer training clinic after ss's game. Ss wanted to go so we left him keep all of his soccer gear. I asked him if he wanted his water jug or if he would get one from his mom's house. He said he would get one from her house. Well, we got a call if Dh could bring his water jug to him. Dh said that he thought he was bringing one from his mom's house. Ss said he thought so too. Guess not!!!

So what should have been a simple morning turned into a head spinning, rat race. Nothing ever goes smoothly when Bm is involved in any way. She just sucks all of the fun right out of soccer.

Now the trick will be getting back all of ss's soccer gear before the next game. Fun, fun, fun!!!
