She is FINALLY referring us to a psychiatrist! (Exhaling deeply.)
I told her about the breakdown, about the sneaking out at 2am, about her refusal to acknowledge she deserves to be grounded, about her indignant "I'm not the one who's sick" attitude, about her rages, then giggly giddiness.
And she thinks she may have Bipolar on top of BPD.
Although this wasn't something we wanted to be true of course as it is a nasty combo, but a common combo too. And if the psychiatrist determines it is bipolar, there are MEDS to help.
Compliance won't be easy, but at last we are moving forward with something definite.
Thanks for your continued support everyone!

Yeah for you!!
I know what this will mean for your family, and I am happy for you. I just hope you get a GOOD psychiatrist and not a drug pusher!

SUCH good news, I'm so glad they're finally listening!!!!
from my SD, the reason we're going through it all....:
o, btw, my dad and *northernsiren* are the best family a girl(and boy) could ever hope for. Thank you for helpping me through these hard times.
Anything . . .
is better than just not knowing. If you have an answer, or at least part of the answer, then you can start hoping again.

such a relief for you
ST,
I am so happy that FINALLY SD can be evaluated by a psychiatrist. I'm not saying that ALL SDs problems can be instantly fixed with the simple "pop" of a pill, but if it IS bi-polar as well, then at least meds can even the moods so therapy can have a better chance of helping her.
At least that's what we went through with my younger son a few years ago when his bi-polar came out at age 10. Before the meds, he could not even TOLERATE therapy- it was a total waste of time. But once the meds kicked in and his moods were stable, the real therapy had a chance to help him! From there, he actually began to rapidly improve.
I wish you, and SD, all the best in this new encouraging development!

Thank you EVERYONE!
SD is attempting to keep coming around and peek over my shoulder while I'm online this afternoon. She may get more of an eyefull than she bargained for as I am searching our provider list for child psychiatrists!
I am so much more hopeful now that at least we'll have relief. Although the women on my BPD site were warning me of horror stories of their own Bio kids with BPD making false claims of child abuse, and then having ALL their other children removed from the home by CPS BEFORE investigating. That was not at all our experience with CPS when SD make a claim against BM (not false but likely exaggerated.) They really dragged their feet then.
But a BPD child can be pretty convincing as to the horrible neglect/abuse their "crazy" parents inflict upon them.
SD does try to say we are abnormal parents who "stalk" her and her friends.
I don't know what I would do if someone came and took BD 2 away from me. I would offer to leave her with my sister or mother if they wanted to investigate, but there's NO WAY I would let them place her in foster care. Luckily I have a close cousin who just retired as a head admin for human services. And now, especially since she doesn't work there anymore, she can intervene with social workers on our behalf.

I know EXACTLY what you mean
about that! SD and BM conconcted a wild tale about me beating her w/hangers once (real original right). CPS crawled all up our butts and out our mouths. I was so afraid someone would try to take my boys away that while they were investigating, I left and went to my dad's. It sucks when they do stuff like that! They found NO abuse and actually stated "why aren't we investigating BM"? Hahahaha. They cleared us of anything and shut the case. It is frustrating and disheartening. Hopefully she won't do anything like that to you guys. Hopefully if she does, the social worker will have some knowledge of BP and BPD in children and can see through the crap...
THERE WILL BE NO WIRE HANGERS........

I hope it works out...
Bipolar/BPD. That's BM. Her medication makes a world of difference. Seriously. I've seen her when she isn't taking them and it isn't pretty.
I have always said that BM really does have the potential to be a decent human being with behavioral therapy that helps her deal with her ever swinging moods and the emotions that go with it.
Anyways. I really do hope it works out for you and you can find a good pyschiatrist that specializes in her diagnosis.
