Step Talk

We got a puppy tonight. Well, we are going out of town this weekend so we aren't picking her up until Sunday when we get back. She is so amazingly adorable- half German Shepherd/half Airedale. Quite a handsome combo, and hopefully will have reduced shedding due to terrier influence (hopefully- you never can tell.)

While there SD went giddy, saying "I can't believe I'm getting a puppy! I can't wait to tell my friends that I have a puppy of my own!"

Ummmm.... WE are getting a puppy. And DH and I already decided she is part of MY 40th b-day present. Mostly that's because SD claims all pets as her own all the time, so this she is officially MY dog, and I will share her equally with the rest of the family.

Funny thing though. HER cat has claimed me because I feed, water, flea treat, etc for him. He is a gem with Anna, but scratches or bites SD all the time (because like toddlers, SD forces herself on animals too, holding them tight when they want to get free.)

So we'll see how this goes.

Now...onto TP.

Got a call from my neighbor. The one formerly known as the woman who wanted to be "friends" with her daughter? Ummm.... not so much anymore. My neighbor is 33 weeks pregnant, and starting premature labor. She told her teen daughter (SD's on again/off again BFF) that she (the mom) can't have ANY more stress. So what does her daughter do? Plans with my SD to TP our house tonight, and it gets back to my neighbor who calls to warn me in spite of herself.

She asked what I want to do. Do I want to wait up all night to catch them in the act?

Ummmm...no. I need my rest. So does the pregnant premature laboring mom.

So I said, Let 'em at it. We will know who did it and sit them down in the morning, and tell them they will clean it up. They will also do community service and as far as SD is concerned, DH is ready to send her back to Catholic school if she TPs our own house.

DH took SD and this friend to TWO movies, and out to eat the weekend I was at the SM retreat. He is LIVID.

And SD has been very much a 13 yr old bit@h to me all week. She is baiting, provoking, defying, tossing sarcasm at me. She has thusfar reserved the outright screaming for DH.

He is seeing that there will be no end. It's so hard for him because this is exactly the kind of stuff BM did. Not TPing of course but, every time DH turned his back BM was getting in trouble at work, or with other Army wives (she caused him to be relieved from teaching and coaching at West Point- his DREAM job) she got into it with cops when pulled over for speeding, with MPs on base. You name it. She was charged with phone harassment by other Army wives on base at WP.

So DH is so beside himself. He said he's calling her aunt the nun and asking her to take her to live with her at the nunnery! He wants to do it in front of SD too.

Ha.

Don't think the old bird would take him up on it. She stopped speaking to us when we pulled SD from Catholic school.

I gave him a suggestion I got from here (can't remember WHO told me that one so pipe up if it was you!) to get boarding school brochures and leave them out.

Well, better get to bed so SD can "sneak" out. Wish I could just call the cops, but didn't set that up with the other mom ahead of time, and this is the FIRST time this mom finally admitted we need to partner in this fight. So I want to keep her on my side.
