I don't know if it's the lack of sleep or the skids just being the normal pain in the butt skids, but they are driving me crazy!
Yesterday DH woke me up when he got home (4 hours sleep the most so far this week), slinging things around and griping. I got up to find out why he was so pissed. The skids had been home for two hours and hadn't started their homework or done their chores. Mind you they KNEW they had to go back to the school last night for a meeting about band and another about chorus.
DH got back from the school pissed that I hadn't cooked dinner. It took the girls till 7:30 to do their homework and they of course had to sit at the kitchen table. SD12 poured koolaide all over SD11's homework. And I couldn't start DH's precious dinner till they cleared the room. They never did their chores and SD12 waited till bedtime to decide she needed a shower.
So today I had sign language class after I got off work. WooHoo he handed us a piece of paper, teamed me with a girl who openly hates me at work, told us to practice and left. This was my first class and he handed me a paper that people who had been signing for years had a problem with.
So I get home at 10am can't fall asleep till 11-11:30, to be woke up at 1:30 by the phone (no number no message), go back to sleep to be woke at 2:30 by the phone again this time I get it. I find out it's SD12's school nurse. SD12 says her throat hurts and wants to come home. She can't stand the pain. No wonder! She burnt it last night stealing DH's coffee at bedtime! To find out it was her the first time she called too. Oh and the school KNOWS she's a hypocondriac (spelling?). I didn't go pick her up either!
She got home I was pissed. I wanted to know why she called and woke me up when her father works across the street from the school. "I don't know..." God I hate that answer!!
Since then I've had to babysit bith girls non stop. "Be quiet, do your homework, did you do your chores, I said get quiet and quit playing and do your homework, if I have to tall you one more time to do your homework I'm finding a belt, WHAT DID I JUST TELL YOU!" Oh and the best to SD11. She asks SD12 to borrow her ruler and pencil. I asked her where hers is (she has two rulers and three new packs of pencils). They're ALL at school and she can't tell me why she felt the need to have EVERY pencil she owns and both rulers at school!
Plus I'm going on yet another day of almost no sleep! Oh and I feel asleep at work last night for about 20 minutes! OMG my supervisor woke me up! She wasn't mad though since she fell asleep the night before.
Put your ear plugs in
and let DH deal with it.

I would contact the school
I would contact the school and let them know that unless one of them is on the way to the emergency room, you are NOT the person to call. If they are not feeling well or throwing up, they need to call their father. That HE will be the one to take care of it.
I think your sd KNEW you were sleeping and did it on purpose. Just my thought on that.

Dreamer, it must be the lack of sleep that's sending you over the edge. A rational person never threatens to hit a child with a belt because the child left her pencils and ruler at school or is playful when she's supposed to be doing her homework. In fact, a rational person never uses a belt on a child at all -- a child could be seriously injured, and it could all too easily be seen as child abuse. I've seen parents (bio and step) who still wear the label "child abuser" -- and it doesn't serve those parents well.
Have your hubby hire a sitter or a tutor to help his daughters with their homework -- and you get some needed rest!
