I told the skids last week not to let the Springer Spaniel in the house. Well the dog gets scared in storms and started freaking out. Of course theskids not only talked DH into letting him in but he let him sleep in their room. Now the house is full of fleas.
We've been fighting the things all summer on the outside dogs (they belong to DH) and now my two little babies have fleas too!!! (2 chihuahuas) I've used sprays and floor powder which is killing my allergies. Now I'm trying Dawn and water. I found it on the internet.
You place a white plate on the floor and put Dawn dish soap and water in it. Then you get a desk lamp and shine it directly over the plate. It seems to be working. I also saw online that you can use salt. My floors are covered in salt.
I'm trying to go non toxic since I sleep days and DH and the kids sleep nights.
Oh and get this!! DH wants me to keep the kids up late tonight, since I'm up all night. He wants to be able to sleep in in the morning. Heck no!! If he wants to keep them up HE can stay up with them.

FLEAS YUCK, THE ONLY THING I
FLEAS YUCK, THE ONLY THING I TRIED FOR THE HOUSE WAS THE DAWN TRICK AND IT WORKED REALLY WELL BUT YOU ALSO HAVE TO ALMOST DAILY COMD THE INSIDE DOGS WITH THE FLEA COMB AND EMPTY IT INTO A BOWL OF WATER AND DISH SOAP TOO SO THEY AREN'T REINFESTING THE HOUSE TOO.
I WOULD MAKE THE KIDS DO THE COMBING!!

Advice
Use Bengal flea spray inside. It is a pesticide but I promise it works wonders. When I was in college we had a old hunting dog that would sleep on the floor mat of my apartment. We tracked in fleas from him and used that bengal and they were gone in no time. it is in a purple can. Also, use Over and Out in your yard. That is the only thing my vet recommends. Certain parts of my neighborhood seem to be having terrible flea trouble this year. So far, we have been lucky. I would do all those things at the same time and also get some Adams flea shampoo and bathe ALL the dogs. I promise you will see a big differance. I never had a problem with the Bengal. I have used it inside and stayed in with it and never bothered me. Good luck.
This actually works?????????
We have a housecat that does not like to stay indoors in the nicer weather. She has not ever had fleas before, now when she comes in just to eat we noticed that she is scratching A LOT and has fleas.
We have treated her but we can't seem to get rid of them. But as long as she keeps playing with some other cats in our neighbourhood, we are not going to get rid of them permanently, this we know.
So how much dish soap do you put in water? So far I haven't seen any in the house, but I really don't want to either. Can you actually put this on the cat too? Just afraid she might lick it off though. Thanks.
it was late when I wrote
it was late when I wrote that but what we do is use the dish soap(a good size spray) in a bowl(throwaway) and warm water half filled now- and then I usually comb out the dogs(they go in and out- and so far since I do this every week the cat hasn't had one flea this year), we also sprayed the backyard with the sevn concentrate only 1 time since march and even with all the rain we haven't had much show even when combing. the fleas suffocate fast in dishwater stuff, my hubbys gma always washed her dogs with it and they rarely had any show up through out the house and her dogs rarely itched when I saw them.

we used
We used to have a dacshound and he got fleas. We lived in a rental and I blame the former tenant and her bad house keeping habits and her pets. After we got rid of them, I used the liquid treatment that you use monthly and squeeze it right on the dogs back between the shoulder blades. Never had any fleas after that. Sorry I can't remember the name of the stuff but you can get it from the vet or at the store. I know Hartz makes it and some other companies too.
