Step Talk

I have been so worked up over the recent issues with BM I have been forgetting to focus on the positive. Last Friday BF and BM went to mediation to hash things out. Well it did not go well for her at all, hehe. There were 3 lawyers there (her free one through legal aid, BF's, and a third one) plus the mediator. BM went in there with this high and mighty attitude which BF said did not make the lawyers and the mediator very happy in the first place. She was trying to get the current parenting schedule changed so that BF has the kids only every other weekend so that she can get the full amt of child support. Right now he has them every other Fri. through Wed. He wants every other week, 50%. First they started talking about when SD got burned last week (see my previous blog) and BM refused to talk about it or answer any questions. She actually said that she didn't have to answer to anyone and got up and left the room. Well I guess her lawyer was NOT impressed with her behavior. BM was told that the only way that she can get his current parenting time reduced would be if she can prove him to be unfit which she has tried and she can't. She already tried taking him back to court a couple of months ago by saying that he was an unfit alcoholic and it backfired on her. The judge ruled in BF's favor So they were able to agree that if BF gets a chemical dependency eval and they see him fit to take care of his kids and not the low life abusive alcoholic that she tries to make him out to be that he immediately gets 50% physical custody. He has nothing to worry about because he hardly drinks and is a wonderful father. Hasn't hardly drank in the past year he's been with me. Now he did admit to me that he used to drink a lot when he was with her to try to cope with her dumb a$$. So I think he will do just fine. I guess BM left the meeting just fuming because she knows she lost and her child support is going down the toilet Also, she tried saying that she plans on moving out of town with the kids. They said if that was the case then the kids would stay with BF during the school year, she can have every other weekend, and then some summer time. It is NOT in those children's best interest to be dragged out of town, pulled from the school they've been attending, to live with her boyfriend that she's only known a couple of months. So she got shot down big time on that one The only thing he is worried about is now she wants her wedding dress and BF threw it away when he cleaned out the spare bedroom. I did tell him at the time not to do it and to put it in SD's closet but he did anyways. I think SD probably told her that we cleaned out the spare bedroom and then went to the dump so that is why she's asking for it now over a year later. Oh well I guess. I am just glad she didn't win, lalalalala. The children are so much better off here. I know it will only be a matter of time before we have them full time since she will no longer be able to use them for a paycheck.
