well this past friday, BF was bound and determined to rent some heavy equipment to do some major work in our backyard. I had a BAAAD feeling about this knowing the skids would probably show up for father's day (BM and BF have a verbal "catch as catch can" arrangement, in others whenever BM feels like having skids over for time sharing; or when she's in the mood for free babysitting)
This is despite the fact that there is a written time sharing arrangment in the DD which is totally ignored by BM and BF never holds her accountable for, but i digress.
Well the heavy equipment got stuck in the mud (which i knew it would) but i could not convince BF prior to this to just forget it since there was a 95% chance at least one of the 3 skids would show up for FD.
As you know, from reading my earlier posts, BF thinks his kids are wonderful and that the pace when with them does not slow down an iota (NOT!) I KNEW those skids would be "jonesing" for "rides" on this equipment! Not in my lifetime, mister!
After the ordeal to get the heavy equipment out and pretty much all saturday was shot, I noticed that youngest SS was actually sort of behaving himself. BF wanted to give him "spaghetti with butter" for dinner b/c BM never used to like sauce and the other two older skids were spoiled in this fashion as well. I put my foot down and gave SS a small amount of whole wheat spaghetti with a tiny amount of sauce i made for BF and me, plus a tiny sprinkling of cheese.
WELL LO and BEHOLD he WOLFED it down and asked for seconds. I told BF to stop spoiling them and ASSUMING that they will not eat this or that! I hope BF was paying attention for this very important lesson! I also put the kibosh on the skids drinking up the gatoraide that I bought SPECIFICALLY for BF as he often has to work outside in the heat AND to a lesser extent, I stopped youngest SS5 from getting into the diet coke (also BF's but he has been TOO lenient in the past letting all three of them drink up the expensive stuff; SS11 routinely raids the diet coke with BF's approval!!) I had 2 litre root beer, apple juice, milk and water for them.
Anyway, two older skids actually showed up on Sunday morning and of course youngest SS's behaviour denegrated with the two older ones. They came dressed like they were going to the mall. They AND BM know better: that our house is a work in progress and a mud pit. AND we don't have money to go to the mall anyway with the crushing CS of $1000 a month!
Oldest SS11 who has "chosen" not to come to our house for a very long time (about 2 mos or so) says "Mom's weedeater is broken; do you have one that she can have?" And I ignored it; her FIANCEE couldn't replace a roll of tape in a dispenser, let alone FIX anything. SUCH a contrast from BF who can fix or build ANYTHING!
So SS11 said that his maternal great grandfather tried to fix it but they really need another one and asked if we had one. So BF says "well your mom and Fiancee could BUY one!"
That stopped that conversation.
They presented BF with a gift similar to years past: a hastily printed off "greeting card" with 3 scratch off lottery tickets (one for each skid) stuffed inside. NICE! And to think for the first 2 years, BF would go through GREAT time and effort and expense making hand made picture frames for BM on mother's day!!
OH YES and for the BEST PART! SD9 "got chased" by some older kids in a car. Of course she was the "innocent dove" in all of this. I doubt it highly as she has a sarcastic and biting mouth on her the size of alaska just like BM. She looks older too; she looks about 12 or 13 b/c they are all much bigger for their ages but behind mentally about 3 years. So she got attention b/c BM called the sheriff and she "made a statement."
Probably went something like this "i was minding my own business and these older kids came up behind me and started yelling at me then chasing me with their car" (we have also advised SD not to walk home from school alone but BM doesn't enforce this and SD is too stubborn)
I'm 1000% sure she opened her big mouth and lipped off to these kids; then got the SURPRISE of her LIFETIME when they actually got mad at her!!! SS11 got in similar trouble just last fall; they both think they are "king and queen" of the town!!
Anyway BF wrapped up the day by taking them to friendly's. After they finally "found" the BB gun that I had hidden and I warned BF that I don't want them shooting w/o your supervision b/c of the way they were acting (SS5 1/2 and SS9 last time they were here). He said "I'm watching them!" (as it "yeah right!" Well SS 5 1/2 ended up pointing and almost shooting SD; so that was the end of that.
Thankfully, BF came up with the idea that they could go out (I had suggested a hot dog stand, but NOOOOO, they're too fussy for that) and I could stay home cooking a nice romantic dinner for BF when he got home. He pronounced the skids "good" at the restaurant. Unfortunately HIS standard of good and mine are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS!

oh crayon!
i couldnt WAIT to read this post bc i knew i would be laughing out loud! didnt disappoint!
your trials w the kids are like a movie...like parent trap or something worse! u should start recording this and make some money off it!
Holy smokes, hopefully she
Holy smokes, hopefully she realized that she should watch her mouth. Otherwise the next time maybe the bigger kids will get her when she is fresh.
