Because the skids will be moving to TX in August with their BM, I decided to splurge a little on DH's father's day and birthday gift (they are 3 days apart).

I booked a little cabin in the Shenandoah Valley for 4 days in the fall (we both have a week off in October). It's driveable, off-season, and very quiet that time of year.

I think it will be good timing to take him away with the girls being gone; we'll be about halfway to Christmas so I think it will really help to relax him and take his mind off of things for a little while.

Plus, this is the very first place we ever vacationed together

We talk all the time about couple vacations we want to take, but the reality is, we will likely be spending a lot of money to go visit the girls and just can't afford a dream vacation this year. I think it's a good compromise and I think he'll really appreciate it.

Skids will be making art projects for him Saturday night too.
