Maybe we can only reach to be this "mean" ????
**********
I didn't hear about this in the news... but, I guess it was about a week ago, a friend sent it to me when I was telling her that I WAS THE MEANEST MOM:
***********
Steven Hambleton has the meanest mom on the plant. If you don't believe him, it even says so in the newspaper.
Get this. For no reason at all, mean mom, Jane went snooping in her 19 year-old son's car and found alcohol under the driver’s seat. Even though Steven explained that he, like, had no idea how it got there, mom went and sold the car!! Totally lame.
As if that wasn’t bade enough, check out the ad she took out in the Des Moines Register for like, the whole world to see:
“OLDS 1999 Intrigue. Totally uncool parents who obviously don’t love teenage son, selling his car. Only driven 3 weeks before snoopy mom who needs to get a life found booze under front seat. $3,7000 obo. Call meanest Mom on the plant.”
Mom wasn’t lacking support for her decision. As a result of her ad, Jane received dozens of phone calls from doctors, nurses, lawyers, counselors, even a man in Georgia, all commending her for taking a tough stance on drunken driving.
So, whatever happened to the alcohol that was, like, totally not Steven’s?? Jane told momlogic.com “I have no idea. It is like it just disappeared.”

I heard this too
Parents paid for the car and set ground rules for the son keeping the car one of which was no drining. Parents paid for it so they have the right to snoop through it too. Son still lived at home so parents house parents rules. I would have done the same thing.
My BS16 could have started drivers ed last year but the rule is decent grades gets drivers ed. Did not get good grades til this year after he turned 16 and he also had to get a job to earn drivers ed. No job no classes. Classes start monthly so when he gets a job, I will pay for drivers ed. Plus my son has to get good grades this term to get his license, if he passes drivers ed, he gets his license and a car. I was not offered this as a teen. I did not get my license til I was almost 19.
me too
my bs had bad grades too and did not get his license till he was getting ready to graduate from high school, and even then i was not going to let him get it until he had a job but his dad thought he would be a "good" dad and let him get it.
but he pays for his own gas and his insurance.
I own his car too, so I would sell it in a heartbeat if I found alcohol or other stuff (illegal) in it.
“You will never be on top of the world
if you try to carry it on your shoulders.”
I didn't even get a Permit until I was 18 and Paid for It MYSELF
This kid had a car newer than any I've EVER Owned, He was dumb and paid the price, better Mean Mom than The Police, They'd have Jailed Him for Underage Possesion, DWI (Open Container and Keys=Intent) in New York State, besides Impounding the car, and Revoking His Liscense until allowed to reapply to MAYBE Get It Back, at 21...
Steve
Kids are the Best and Worst Things We can do to Ourselves. When We have nothing else worth living for, We'll go on, for Them, but Oh How We Miss Our Freedom...LOL
My son is 15....
I know that this isn't typical, but he shows 0 interest in driving, getting a car/truck or whatever, guess he likes mama to drive him around. Anyway, We have decided that he will not take a drivers test for a mermit until he reads from cover to back the rules & regs of the road manual, that is mandatory. Then, I will provide a written test prepared by me. If he fails my test, he too will be waiting until he's old enough to get it himself. No way, will I let him behind a wheel until he gets book smart on the whole thing - then we will talk about actual driving. Tough Love - Shit, I don't want him on the same road as me or anyone else - not yet, anyway.
Stepwitch
Thank you Disney for portraying a positive image on all stepmothers!!!!
My DH didn't have a comment....
So, I get this article from my friend and I read it to my DH.
(Background, SD18 just had her SECOND dui in December.... still has her car, her license, and absolutely no consequences.)
I thought if perhaps I read this to him he would think that MAYBE just maybe his daughter should have some sort of consequence…nope. He didn’t even have a comment. Not that he has anything to hold over his daughter’s head for leverage, but BM does – the car is in her name (thank goodness it’s not in ours). Did she even stop paying for SD’s car insurance… nope. SD has no job, doesn’t go to school and has a bf that’s 26! Ugh.
