Vice Principal called. The monitors damaged in The Great Magnet Caper (See Monday's post "Any Thoughts?") were due to be replaced soon. Because of that fact and because all are still usable and you can barely see the damage on most of them, we don't have to buy any new ones for the school. SS served his in-school suspension yesterday; apparently that was all the discipline he was going to be forced to endure. But because I'm so mean, and have such mean friends here on Step Talk, I emailed the teacher and principal yesterday and requested that SS be given some of those additional chores you all suggested. They thought it was a splendid suggestion, so SS and fellow hoodlums will spend the next 10 days picking up trash in the lunchroom after lunch is over. I still think they are getting off light, but hopefully he will straighten up. Thanks again for your help, ladies and Steve.

What a relief!
And the extra work won't hurt him a bit. Maybe he'll THINK next time.

Good For You
it's a good mark for all us parents out here who still feel that kids should be held accountable for their actions....even if the schools and other authority figures have lost their "power" to discipline kids because they misbehave.

I don't want to sound mean but I don't think these ISS or even OSS at school really teach kids much....not like when we were kids and Lord, the embarassment of being sent to the principal's office or God Forbid, having detention.....not to mention having to deal with our parents.
I hate that today's society has taken the control away from adults and given it to the children.
Sorry for the rant
"SOME PEOPLE WEREN'T MEANT TO HAVE CHILDREN"
That's Great.
Cruel to be kind. It's funny that discipline sometimes needs to come from outside the home to really sink in.
Times have changed, for sure
I remember being terrified of getting 'licks' with the paddle - where you went out in the hall with the teacher and everyone could hear how many you got! Whew, I managed to avoid that, but nowadays the teacher would probably have to go to prison or something
Vickiemac, I am very pleased, that the damage was no worse AND that they all will have a new appreciation for their school and its belongings!!! Good for you-!!!!
