I blogged yesterday that my doc put me on celexa ....

I have some questions first i am a little confused b/c the doc said it would take about 2 weeks to feel anything but I started feeling jittery today. I just HAD to go for a walk and I can't seem to sit still.

I don;t feel relaxed at all so maybe that is what she was talking about with the 2 weeks or so that I will feel something.

Is this normal??? :?

I was on Celexa for 5 years. It really does help. that being said, it took 3 months to get to a point where I felt balanced. It usually takes 2-3 weeks to start feeling better IF the dosage is correct. Side effects, however, can pop up almost immediately. Sometimes they go away once the dose is settled and the body acclimates to the drug, sometimes they are just something that you have to deal with. this sounds more like one that should subside. If it doesn't, talk to your doctor about a lower dose. Too high means crappy side effects and feeling like a zombie, too low and you're back at square one.

It's a lot to deal with, and it takes some time, but it's worth it to get the help you need! Hang in there, and keep in contact with your doctor.

I had to go off wellbutrin because it was making me hyper. Zoloft made me lose thirty pounds. Cymbalta gave me tons of energy. Everyone of these is different. Trial and Error....I have not tried Celexa and thankfully don't need them right now. But, that is not to say they are probably in my future again.

My husband was on celexa for 6 months and I found him unconcious at home. The doctors think that the side effect of prolonged QT wave for his heart is what caused him to go under. Please be careful. Also my husband tried wellbutrin and after 6 months he had a seizure.

I am no doctor but it usually takes 3 days for any medicine to get fully into your body or out. It could be the anxiety of taking the medication. If it doesn't seem right to you then stop. My doc put me on a medication and on the 3rd day i had a panic attack. I took it for 11 days - the doc office told me to continue it and also prescribed another medicine for the panic/anxiety side affects and i was scared to death to stop taking it but i was better 3 days later. I self help to control my anxiety & panic attacks. Medicine affects everyone differently - you just need to do what feels right to you.

cowgirl that is what I thought so that is why I cam confused about this jittery feeling I have.

Is one of the side effects nervousness?

Honestly - I am scared to take any of that stuff. After my trial of only a 10 mg dose of anti-depressants for 11 days that really screwed me up i went in full mode to self help myself. I noticed i was feeling better in about 1 1/2 wks. I also learned that it took me a long time to get to the messed up point i was and it was going to be a lot of work and time to get better. I also realized that i was my own worst enemy!

If you have any past issues with being anxious, anxiety or panic attacks .... I would not take it. That stuff can really screw you up. If you want some ideas of self help -- you can pm me.

Cowgirl i have had panic attacks about 10 years ago to the point that I could be driving and I would curl up in a ball. I would have to pull over and sit for a while. i haven;t have one in 10 years but back then I had them for several years. I didn't even think that this would effect that I thought it would help. :?

You have to do what you feel is right. I am not meaning to worry you. You are the only one who knows your body & if something doesn't feel right.

Jittery/anxious feelings are completely normal when taking SSRIs. It should subside for you eventually.
