O/T Frustrated with weight loss progress

I have been on a diet...not cheating at all but losing very little weight not like I usually do when I try. I am eating 1200-1500 calories a day eating healthy foods and 3 meals and 2 snacks a day...just like what has always worked before. I lost 3 lbs first week and barely 1 lbs this week. I know I am at least 30 lbs over weight so I should be losing pretty easy especially at first. I usually don't have to go crazy working out with strict eating but this time it doesn'tseem to be working very well. Last time I lost 3-4 lbs a week at first for a month and then it got less as I had less to lose but this time I am really trying and not having very good results...very frustrating.

How stressed are you? Stress can and will affect you weight loss in negative ways. Try to increase the work outs for a week. Working out helps some people destress.

I am very stressed...extremely anxious too. I am going to the community center today and get a membership to the rec center and start working out at lunch...only time I have.

Regular exercises are great to sooth stres so to deal with stress exercise regularly. Regular exercises helps you in losing and maintaining healthy body weight and prevent you from obesity, depression and cardiovascular exercises. Besides workout do foucs on your meals also and have balanced diet meal plans.

From my experience, stress can be easily removed by regular doing exercise, PT's and meditation. These measures really helped me to reduce my stress in past few months. I will be glad if you follow my suggestion.

I am currently doing lo carb and working out with weight/training cardio 3x a week. Also losing fairly slowly-I've been on 2 weeks today and have lost maybe 3 pounds. Also have about 30 pounds to lose. I am trying to be patient with the process. I know that I have yo yo dieted for years and my metabolism is out of wack so it just may take longer. I used to lose weight very easily-but that stopped about 4 or 5 years ago when I hit 35. The last serious weight loss effort I put in-I did weight watchers and worked out 5 tiems a week-often doing 5 miles a day on the treadmill. The first 3 months I lost 6.5 lbs. How depressing. Somehow I mustered on and then amazingly I lost 6.5 lbs in 2 weeks. And kept it off. I did not do anything different I guess it was just when my body was ready to give up the weight. I stayed on track another couple of months and lost about 3 more pounds-which ended up giving me just about the weight loss I wanted.

Anywho, my point is that sometimes our bodies dont cooperate and lose at the rate or in the manner that we might wish them to. The rate that your losing at-a few pounds of week is actually very healthy and will be easier to maintain. i know the pounds gone on the scale are super motivating, but just try and focus on how good you are doing sticking with your plan and eventually it will come off.

I also have noticed that my pants fit a bit looser now-so changes are occurring in me body even if I'm not seeing a huge reflection on the scale right now!

Yes I've noticed that my clothes fit and feel much better too as if I had lost 10 or more lbs but the scale is going crazy...I definately need to drink more water!!!!!!

Stress DOES do horrible things with weight loss..... like release way too many corticosteroids into your body, thus telling your body to hoard the fat. Being stressed in short bursts is normal (fight or flight). But when it's constant, drawn out stress people tend to gain weight even though they are not stress eating or anything like that. I dealt with a loved ones terminal illness for 4 years and ballooned (I won't say what my weight was, it was embarrassing). Within 3 months of the stress being relieved I had lost 35 - 40 lbs... and went on to lose almost 40 more in the following year.

And remember, after cutting back the calories for a while, you need to trick your metabolism and exceed your usual daily caloric intake for 1-2 days. then go back to your previous lower intake.

Great post on lifting weights and like to add for lifting weights we must have nutritive diet plan to meet our body requirements for lifting weights and to avoid any discomfort and gyms are the best place as you will not workout on advance quality equipments there but you will also guide regarding your diet plan.

This is why I don't do scales. I get crazy, and will start doing anything to see the numbers go down. Now, instead of numbers, I go by how my clothes fit. In September, my fdh started Herbalife (he's got about 100-125 to lose) and I started with him as moral support. It's easy for me this way, since I'd been gaining weight ever since he came to live with me and started cooking :). Don't know how many pounds, but I'm almost back in to my "skinny" skirt, the one that only fits comfortably when I'm at my thinnest!

It's also important to remember that muscle wieghs more than fat, so if you're working out you may see positive diffences in your body without seeing a difference in the number on the scale. Good luck! And if your interested in Herbalife, pm me and I can tell you more.

I was going to mention that about fat also -- but forgot. I started practicing martial arts about 8 months ago. I lost about 4 lbs.... yup all that, 3 days a week. But I dropped 2 pant sizes, and I had more than a couple people mention it looked like I'd lost 15 lbs!! YAY! Not only does muscle weigh more than fat, but it's more compact

For losing weight there is need to do regular exercise and proper diet plan. You don't need to worry. Stress and depression is not good for brain so try to do exercise regularly. I hope that you will lose weight after some days.

Agree with you that regular exercise with proper diet plan helps in losing body weight and like to add break meals in 5/6 small meals including snacks and prefer raw food over processed food. Drink more water than routine, start green tea and avoid beverages. Avoid eating before going to bed and have 7/8 hours sleep daily.

Focus less on the numbers and more on what you see in the mirror. Keep losing fat gradually to minimise the likelihood of stretch marks, flabby skin, muscle loss etc. Protein needs to be high.
