for Thanksgiving. We're going to visit DH's brother with no kids whatsoever. I'm very excited about it.
It's really weird for me to be away from my boys though. My court order states that the boys are supposed to be with me every Thanksgiving, because ex had no family here and he really didn't care either way. Now ALL his family is here and I just felt like being fair about it. I've had them every year since we split 6 years ago. I offered and he accepted graciously and all is well in the world. (Life after divorce CAN be peaceful) Just a little blue about leaving them for 6 days is all but I'm sure once I get there I will be perfectly fine. (A week away from BM is worth the sacrifice!)
Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!! Each and every one of you will be on my "what I'm thankful for" list this holiday.

It is great what you did. I wish more divorced couples could act that way in the best interest of the kids. For tonight you are my hero. Have a great Thanksgiving because I am sure your kids are thankful for having you as a mother!

My ex and I think on the same terms... in fact this year his family wasn't doing anything so he offered the entire day to me (we normally share). It is nice when we can do things for each other, that best benifit the kids. Have so much fun and a safe trip!

We are going to DH's parents Friday since we aren't hosting here this year. We are only taking the two year old. Then we are going to see if they would be willing to watch her while we go out on a date! Whoooooooweeeee!

We thought thanksgiving might be a little lonely without the kids (her year). My family is 10 hours away and a trip is impossible right now, his family is only speaking to his ex wife so we decided to book a reservation at a fancy resturant for a nice brunch date. We can dress up, get our fill and have no mess to clean up for about the same price.
Trying to make not having the kids a fun, positive day. Hope you have fun too.
