Today I felt like the step-monster

My SD has had this huge pile of clothes that don't fit her anymore. I finally got her to try on the clothes. First she resisted, then she just went into the bathroom, didn't change and lied about it. She is 7 BTW. When all was said and done she has maybe 3 pieces of clothing at our house that do fit her. BM refuses to send a bag with her at all. Mainly just to be petty. Finally, Sd wants to take the one t-shirt we have for her home to her mom's. I was so drained and I really think my husband should have been the one to take care of this months ago.

Then, I asked that ss put the tv wiring back to normal after he is done playing video games. Of course that turns into a huff too. I finally looked at him and said, I don't mind cleaning up after your bedding, washing your clothes, but I just don't want to deal with this one bit of cleaning up. I'm so tired of feeling like bad cop today.

I don't feel like I am asking for monumental things here, but everything is just an uphill battle sometimes. I've never raised my voice at the kids, but I was real close to getting snappy today.

We all do this...

I can hear me now doing the same thing. Everyone wants the skids to be treated the same as the bio kids...but thats only for love, attention and gifts I think because god help me if I give SS the same chores or the same discipline as my Bio's!! If I say make your bed or please don't do that, I am picking on him..Geez..I hear ya sister!! Heheh.

When it comes to this, I go to DH and say please discipline your child, he is doing this and BS's can't do this so fix it or I am leaving for the day. Job done and he is the bad guy...as it should be!

no shared clothing allowed

When the kids were younger, we absolutely never let them take clothes home to BM's. We never got them back. If they asked, we said no. We are primary residence, so we could more logically say that they surely had enough clothes to wear there just on the two weekend days she had them twice a month. They aren't allowed to bring anything with them from BM's to wear at our house, either, simply because they inevitably lose her stuff and somehow I end up being responsible for that.

I remain, the world's most evil stepmom; ask anyone.
