OT/What is a good time for an 8 year old Saturday bday party?

HappyCow's picture

I want to throw DD8 a birthday party on a Saturday in October. Since it is so close to halloween she has requested a halloween themed party which makes it super easy for me to pick up stuff! However, as I am printing up invitations I am worried about the time. I was thinking from 4-7 and include that I will serve pizza and cake. Is this a good time? I read on a website that 2 hours is max and to do it earlier in the day. The only problem is SD17 has a cheer competition in the am so I can't really do earlier.

What do you think?

We always try to throw ours in the 2-4 range so we don't have to provide a lunch, most people will eat before they come. But if you are already planning on pizza I would go with the 4-7, or maybe 5-7. Trust me, two hours is plenty. We once had a bday party at the park when my SS turned 6, they have a two hour limit on reservations. It was the perfect amount of time and I was going a little but crazy by the end so I could not have handled 3 hours.

Cut hotdogs in half. But some ketchup at the end and use almonds as finger nails. Now you have half fingers.
Darken the room by blocking the windows. Hang paper cut bats etc from the ceiling.
We had mic stands (you can use brooms I guess) threw a white sheet over it. A white pillow case over that, where I stuck big black eyes on and a mouth. Now you've got ghosts.
I would do the party for at least 3 hours. Especially if they are having pizza too.
