I Miss Maternity Clothes. . .(vent)

thinkthrice's picture

No, not for me; just in general. Call me old fashioned but I prefer the demure, understated look of maternity clothes.

I find today's fashion of wearing skin tight clothes through the entire gestation period vulgar and common. As if to proudly announce to the world: "I GOT KNOCKED UP BY A KNUCKLEDRAGGER!!"

But that's just me.

Love this! When I was pregnant (Last year) I looked for clothes that flowed off the belly! I noticed that too often stores carried these skin tight maternity clothes and I just did not find it attractive at all. What is worse is that they have bands that people put over their unbuttoned jeans, ewwww.

Those "bands" you were talking about were the exact thing that inspired this blog. I saw a young mother with a gigunda belly out walking with her other two older daughters in daizy duke shorts. I just wanted to wretch. Whatever happened to "ladylike?"

ewwww!!! Why were those things created!!!??? Lady like went out the window long ago. Sad thing is men prefer modesty but these women keep letting it all hang out and end up with three different baby daddies!

I for one never glowed. I never looked like I just swallowed a basketball. I didn't not look pregnant from the backside. I looked huge. EVERYWHERE. You would not have caught me dead in skin tight maternity clothes or daizy dukes.

As a 8 month pregnant woman I have to strongly agree! I can't tell you how many hours I've searched for nice loose fitting clothing or dresses and I've come up with are maternity short shorts (why is that even a thing) and short dresses. Atleast with Summer they have more Maxi dresses coming back in style.

I agree with all this! I'm not a particularly small woman, and I packed on the pounds with all 3 of my pregnancies (latest this past year.) I spent the entire time looking for flowing tunics once it got too cold for summer dresses. 3 months postpartum I still don't like how the regular tight maternity tops look on my non-pregnant body!
