anyone have luck with moving?

I have a teenage step daughter. our whole family wants to move. biomom is going crazy and trying to say that talking about moving will make SD kill herself (??????????????). Just wanted to know if anyone had experiences w this before. SD is going to talk to her lawyer tomorrow about what she thinks and hopefully we can mediate from there. We are so done.

its an intolerable 50/50 split and we have exhausted every resource trying to get more custody. We currently do everything on half the time.

We have all wanted to move for years.

the move is out of state...

it was his idea.

its torture for SD because biomom gives her a play-by-play of every conflict and there will be less of it if we are further away and don't have to consult each other constantly. We have tried everything. Like I said down thread, she can't really do the job so its likely to be temporary (if it happens, SD wants to move).

I don't want to force her into anything, I just know if she lives with her mom for any length of time she is going to end up with us anyway. Biomom cannot parent without significant help from other people and her family is done helping her so she will crack eventually.

We had votes in our family. There were six of us. My dad got one vote. The four kids shared one vote. My mom got 4 votes. It worked. Smile

Just wait. It isn't worth the cost and aggravation of a legal battle which can EASILY be drug out three years.

I don't think you guys understand. oh well. i don't know why I was dumb enough to think anyone here would be supportive. we are just done, we have tried everything, and biomom is content to start a new fight ever 3 days or so. Anything is better than this.

I think most of us understand too well. A move away order will cost you a fortune and with 50/50 you stand little chance of winning if BM contests. Given that SD is 15 she may get some say especially in certain states; however, it will still cost a lot just to get to court. You best bet is to leave SD with BM.
