Invited a child molester to my house.

MidwestStepmom's picture

My BSstb1 birthday is this weekend. I have a big birthday party planned out for him. I just found out today that my 2nd cousins new husband was charged a few years ago of raping a 12 year old girl. I guess he was never convicted or some crap. Anyways, I emailed said cousion and informed her that her husband could not come to my house. I don't want that type of person in my house of near my child. She got upset and got her entire family in the fight and also my mother involved in it. They are blaming me for evening bringing it up and taking back the invite. My family lives for drama and they are so dumb that they can't see that I'm just trying to keep my child safe.

There are kids who accuse their own fathers of raping them just to get attention; I'm not saying you are wrong (it's your house, it's your kid) but what happened to innocent unless proven guilty?

I know several cases of guys (including a father) who went to jail due to false allegations. I'm not defending pedophiles or child molesters; just wondering if it's fair to "convict" the person just because he was accused. I'm not saying I wouldn't have done the same thing you did, I'm just thinking out loud.

I read on the newspaper a while ago about a man who served the maximum sentence for child rape (his daughter); the day he came out she was there, crying, apologizing and confessing she had falsely accused him. The man started crying as well, held her and told her that he had forgiven her since the beginning, because she was the most precious thing he had in the world.
I loathe child abusers but will never forget that scene.

Yes, you are right, people making the false allegations should be punished to the fullest extent of the laws (as well as the molesters, of course).

You in the world has the time or desire to do all of that?

The OP heard a story, her gut told her to act and she did. If her cousin and othere family members have their panties I a twist because she doesn't want someone who may be a pedophile in her home, that on them.

It's her home. She's free to decide who she invites in her home. If she doesn't want a man who may have raped a child in her home, that is her choice.

He was arrested and charged with first degree rape. The charges went down to 3rd degree sexual abuse with probation. You better believe I won't have this person in my house. Disgusting pig! It was a 12 year old neighbor girl.

Not being convicted doesn't mean it didn't happen. Who the hell wants to roll the dice on their child's safety?

The MAJORITY of rapists and child sex predators are NEVER convicted. Most victims don't come forward because of assholes that victimize them calling them liars because "He's a nice guy!"

It's incredibly hard to prove in court very often. Even when charges are brought, they are allowed to plead out under non sex related offenses such as just assault.

So I won't even say my opinion on inviting known/accused sex predators over to kid parties just because there isn't a conviction. I think it's evident.

^^This was my first thought too^^

A 12 year old could easily be intimidated by a grown man and the court system not to want to testify. While I think the OP should have asked more questions, she does have the right to decide who she wants and doesn't want around her child.

I've been walking away more and more as I get older. I don't speak to my father or either of my TWO step dads. I speak to my mother when I have to. I have 9 siblings and I only communicate with 1. I have no problems cutting people out of my life if they can't accept that I want safety for my child.

No kidding!

Sally, pedophiles are all over the world. Just because you don't hear about it, doesn't mean it isn't happening right under your nose.

Most molesters aren't foreign, creepy looking strangers. They are people we know and trust~family members, coaches, teachers, clergy, the kind old man or woman next door....

Those men are pedophiles. For the government to turn a blind eye to rape is mind blowing.
