panic attack, seeing the skids for the first time, longer than 20 minutes

MamaFox's picture

We okayed it with the Facilitator and local sheriffs first (sheriffs just as c.y.a), The youngest specifically asked FEB and I to go to his first football game.

I am FREAKING OUT!

Is BM crazy enough to start shit? Will she try to be nice and be all "omgnewbesty!!!" And then I look like an ass in front of the kids for not reciprocating? Do I wear my engagement ring, which is three times the size hers? (Its still only 1.5 carats?) If I do will it cause shit? Do I dress up? Or do I buy baseball cap of the kid's team? Is that trying too hard? (He's the running back, we are so proud!)

Do I bring a damn picnic?

Will hiding in my kindle and ignoring everything but the skids be rude? Do I care? Yes, actually. I want to be seen as a cool stepmom.

Seriously, do they sell booze at these things? I may bring an opaque thermos.

do. not. dress. up.

regulars at these games make fun of the women that look like they're going clubbing. i know Wink i made fun of dumbass for showing up in a tube top, sparkly jeans, and 6" wedges...

wear decent jeans and a nice blouse/shirt. sneakers or flip flops are best. modest amount of jewelery. and yes your ring if u wear it all the time anyway. dont forget some cool-ass looking sunglasses.

i wouldnt bring a picnic, but a bag with some drinks and snacks is always handy. and bugspray... some colapsable (sp?) cloth chairs are good to keep in the trunk in case there are no bleachers, or if the bleachers are full.

stand by and support your man, dont say too much to bm if she tries to be chatty but smile and be cordial. pay attention to the game, not her- that's what u're there for, after all. and cheer like hell for ss and his team!

remember too, if/when bm approaches you, the skids may feel just as awkward as you so u're not in this alone.

*sigh* i remember my first game too. glad those days are long gone!!! nowadays dumbass doesnt even bother to show up.

I always felt women who looked comfortable and earthy were far more intimidating and attractive than their sparkly dressed up counterparts. They just appear so at ease in their own skin...that's beautiful and will make a lasting impression. Wear your ring, wear some flip flops and make sure those feet are pedicured and soft.if you don't want to wear jeans, wear a cute maxi skirt and a relaxed tank top. Natural makeup and natural hair.

Good luck:D

understated is elegant and will outshine trashiness. also dont forget a killer item of accessory.
