Imitating BM

GoodBye's picture

Anybody else have a younger skid who tries to act like a grown-up to be "cool"? It grates on my nerves so much...I know it's normal behaviour for kids to imitate older role models in their lives, but SD6 acts like her complaining mother which is uber annoying. A couple of examples:

I told SD she needed to go outside and play. She says to me (like it's an option) "I'm just gonna stay inside. I'm pretty tired, I haven't been sleeping well lately." Totally her mother...kid, you're 6.

SD got here on Friday for our weekend, my niece (who is a year younger) is here and asks SD to play. BM bought SD a puppy a couple months ago.
Niece: SD come play!
SD: I don't really feel like playing right now. I had to take care of the dog all day and I'm tired.
Again...you're 6. These phrases are just in total imitation of her lazy mother. I have to fight back the urge to call her out and knock her down a peg or two sometimes lol.

That's funny. My SD6 does similar things. She thinks she can opt out of something I've told her to do as well. At the dinner table she'll often say things like, "I've decided I'm not going eat my peas tonight."

Um..... yes you are because you are 6 and I told you to.

Lol yep mine does that too. But it's the "I'm too tired" crap I find particularly annoying cause the kid sleeps like a log. Seriously, my 10 month old can be screaming bloody murder and SD will sleep right through it. She's just trying to be like her mother Wendy Whiner.

Hahaha..... that's hilarious.

My SD does the 'too tired' thing sometimes too. It's always an excuse to get out of doing something and I don't let it fly. Her BM is super lazy too.

Ss does this in a sense.

I'm a shutterbug and I've noticed recently whenever we're snapping pictures he does this thing where he slumps forward and makes like a mean face. He says that's how "cool" people take pictures. I know this is coming from Bm and it's beyond irritating. Thankfully he stops and will smile like usual she. I ask him but it's still very strange/annoying.

Oh yes,sd does act a lot like bm. It's so annoying, and she needs to be reminded that she is a kid. I hide behind my giant sunglasses and roll my eyes constantly. I don't find her words cute or amusing in any way!
