Frustrated today with Skids

BarkAtTheMoon's picture

I'm just irritated this evening. Co-workers have been going through a difficult time with deaths in the family and one co-worker has had three surgeries in one week due to complications. So these people clearly have it rough of late. It's been weighing heavy on my mind these past few days. I just found out before I left work today that one guy's mother died in her sleep and it was unexpected. So, I'm sad and fragile and pissy all at the same time tonight.

I get home and my skids are sitting on their asses as usual,...... forgot this, forgot that, life at the hotel is great!.....They have no idea how bad things can be. I'm overwhelmed by the sadness at work and I walk in the door at home and its SSDD. SDstb13 comes in and I plainly say to her (insert sarcasm here...), "I don't know if I've told you before (I just told her last night and the night before), but please remember to give the dogs fresh water throughout the day." She replies, "Oh, I did. At noon." It's 5:30pm and the bowl is very low. I have five dogs, four are large breed, SDog is the little punk breed. (Sorry small dog breed lovers, I'm just mad today.) I immediately give the dogs fresh water and get them all dinner. SDstb13 just kind of stands there, almost like she's too afraid to leave, but you know she's been on diaper duty with SDog lately, so she was waiting for him to eat and get him outside. SDog likes to mark in my house so he is in a belly band now. Complete with a maxi pad. Look it up.

Anyway, SD19 has her big nose out on the deck, "taaaaaanning," herself. She'll be wrinkled by 25 at this rate. You go, girl. I'm pissed at SDstb13 because I can tell/ask her until I'm blue in the face to give the dogs water and she just doesn't do it or monitor it like she should. I guess it's really difficult having that to do during the day?.....SD19 decides she's done being a sun goddess and brings her lounge chair in from the deck. For the first time in my life I shut the hell up and didn't even look in her direction. I'm sure she doesn't know what she walked in on. Since I suggested we get her a nice lounge chair for her bday, she brings it back into the garage every time. Not like when she took our camping chairs out there and just let them blow away in the tstorms.

So, I tested SD19, to see if she would say hello or anything to warrant my lifting my head and pleasantly greeting her back. Nope. Nada. Zilch. I have never been that rude and not greeted the skids, and while I knew I didn't owe them a hello, it's just the right thing to do. But I stayed quiet. I flat out ignored SD19 like she wasn't even there. Weird feeling, to do that.

Then I go upstairs and the hallway must be 80 F'n degrees. I absolutely hate that! SD19 who was out on the deck has left the door to her room open, her blinds up and curtains open. Her room is like an oven and the hot air is coming into the hallway. I shut her damn door. SD19 also likes to leave the blind up in her bathroom too. So I go in there and sure enough its 95 degrees and the blind is all the way up. I pulled the damn thing down to the floor three feet below the bottom of the window. Get it NOW, peaches?

I am hyper sensitive to temperature and I guess these days I am hyper sensitive to lazy Skids. I've spoken to SD19 before about leaving her blinds DOWN if she wants to be more comfortable in her room, but you know, in one big ear and out the other.

I'm so glad there's only 26 days until school starts. Get the hell outta my house SD19, you lazy Skid. Go to college and stay away for awhile. And SDstb13 get on that big yellow bus and do your very best this school year. You're gonna need all the help you can get. And this year, it's not coming from your loving SM who helped you get A's by riding your ass for the past year and a half.

Ugh, just had to vent. Thanks for listening. I feel sick.

Mmmm use a pail as a water dish? 2 pails?

Is the A/C on in the rest of the house? Turn it off. You can buy lockable thermostats, both key and key pad. Turn it on when you get home. They won't melt. I unhooked the wires in mine and said the A/C was broken but had to leave it off at night which is OK where we live, cools off fast when sun does down.

BarkAtTheMoon's picture

Hi Orange~ Yes, I've already thought about getting a bigger water bowl. The one I have now is big enough for a chihuahua to bathe in, though. Hey, if I get a pail, then SDog won't be able to get any water. He's too short...No, that's too mean. He's a stupid, helpless dog.

As far as the tstats, unhooking the wires would be pure evil. }:) Is that the direction I'm headed in? I'm thinking of the Skids as roommates at this point, just minding my own business and cleaning up after myself. I actually worry more about my dogs going without AC, but they are dogs, they'll survive. LOL Just frustrated tonight. Maybe the full moon is coming, lol.

One bowl for five dogs (even four) is not enough, no matter the size. I have two dogs, two large bowls, since I'm usually out all day.

Orange County Ca's picture

Big pail and small pail. They would make good conversation pieces also.

"Oh (husbands name) drinks out of the big one the other one is for the kids".

Yes, Sally, I guess I really have fully disengaged. I have finally sunk to her level and I am treating her the way she always treats me. Let her f'n savings account run out. Let her buy cheap clothes that she doesn't take care of. You think DH is monitoring all of that? He may chose to tell her that she needs to work more once she runs out of money, though. I guess she has about another year or so if she is frugal with her savings....I looked and she has spent $400 on clothes since Jan 1st. Ok, so that's what teen girls do. $300 of it was just spent in July. Gosh she thinks everything is going to be free when she gets older. She's kind of in between being a kid and an adult right now....but I will continue to remind DH that she is "19" and if she wants something, she will have to get off her ass and earn it.

Can't wait until I charge her for her cell phone next summer!! I'm putting my foot down on that one!!

Oh and DH texted me yesterday that SD19 got an A in her summer math class. I felt like writing back, "That's because she took the AP version in high school and has had it before. She was just to lazy to get the AP credit by blowing the exam!" But I didn't.

DH just called me, asking what I did with all of SD19's boxes from when she moved out of the dorms, home from college last May. Oh, you mean the ones that she just piled on the floor in the corner of the bsmt where our puppy could get to them? I put them wherever they would fit on the storage shelves, she'll have to work and look for them. Tell her the boxes that don't say anything on them would be a good place to start. Because all of my/our stuff in storage from our move last year is LABELED with a big fat Sharpie. Great, now she's going to tear apart the basement.

Evidently, SD19 is looking for some special canvas art pencils to draw something for DH's niece's wedding this fall. Isn't it just speshul that DH can call me and expect me to know EXACTLY where I put SD19's boxes? There are still blankets from her dorm that are in our sitting room from May. She made it in from the garage and her mantra last May was ,"I don't have any room for that upstairs." I remember I even asked her one time to take some papers up to her room that her father had asked her to hold on to. They were the insurance protection papers for her iPhone5. She said she didn't have "room" in her bedroom for them. You stoopid Skid. I let them sit on the kitchen table for two days and then threw them out. The latest is her prescription since she's always PMSing....the packet had been on the table since the weekend. I moved it when I made dinner one night this week. She hasn't taken the packet from the side counter in the kitchen. It's days are numbered.

Yes, Sally, PMS does NOT exist with my SD19....it's just her real personality lol.

I'm also glad that school starts soon. It is sad to see BS19 go off to college, but it will be interesting to see who SD15 tries to blame her mess on while he is gone. Currently in my TV room are nasty socks on the floor, one of her famous have drunk glasses of milk, and two plates. Kinda surprised that DH didn't pick it all up last night. Summer band has started, and DH is making SD15's happy butt get up with him. He has been dropping her off at probably SD15's only friend's house so that she can ride in with her in the morning.

I made the wonderful announcement to SD15 last night that she is responsible for getting herself up from now on. With the potential gym job, I plan on taking morning clients, and will not be around at 6 a.m. to tell her 5 times to get up! She did well to get up on her own this morning...I was kinda shocked. Well, not really...she did go to bed last night around 6 p.m. after her first day of band practice...claiming she was so tired she just wanted to sleep forever!

At least now that it's summer band, I don't have to regularly remind SD15 of the 1-hour TV rule any more! I am kinda worried for my house if this job at the gym pans out. Guess I'll be staying up late after working two jobs doing dishes and stuff. Yeah, I know...should let it go. But I do work from home with my day job. Like OP is about temps, I am about smells! If someone fills a pot and leaves it in the sink too long, and it gets that vomit smell? UGH! Maybe DH will finally get tired of SD15 leaving her crap everywhere and finally do something about it! I mean, he will get plenty of "quality time" with the princess! Without me around most of the evening to make his life more tolerable...hehehehe!

BarkAtTheMoon's picture

I pulled up from work to the trash can blocking our driveway. Stupid trash man left it there. Stupid Skids didn't bring it in. Nor did they bring in the mail. I got out of my car, put the trash can on the curb and pulled up to the house. The trash can is still out there for DH to see when he gets home.

I came in and threw some trash into the kitchen can, only to see a SDog maxi pad in there. He's in diapers now for marking in the house. SD19 was right in the kitchen drawing and I ignored her when I came in, only saying hello to my dogs. Of course she didn't greet me, why would she? I turned to her and asked, "Did you put SDog's diaper in this trash can?" No, it was YSD. "SDstb13, come here, please." She comes up from the bsmt. I ask if she changed the SDog's diaper and she said she did. I asked her to get a plastic grocery bag and to wrap it up so we wouldn't have to see it/smell it every time we threw something out. She stood there and reached into the trash and wrapped it up. G }:) }:) D. You know I don't tolerate the maxi pad thing, no matter who was wearing them.
I humiliated her. She is a doofus.

I worked all day, why should I contribute any more than my paycheck today lol?

CantKeepDoingThis's picture

LOL...I don't want SD15 touching my mail! She might accidentally put it in the trash, or just go straight to her room with it forgetting she has it, and I'll miss something important! Another perk of working from home...I go out and get my own mail soon after the mail lady comes by.

Last night there was more trash on the counter. The trash can was over-flowing because SD15 finally got around to bringing out the water bottles from her room. Think I may be revisiting the water issue after BS19 leaves...be revisiting a lot of issues related to groceries. I mean, right now, it is hard to say SD15 can't have something when BS19 made requests for a certain kind of cereal or for Hot Pockets. Difference is, he actually gets off of his butt, and will only eat what he needs. She will sit there, eat 4 Hot Pockets, and then go purge them. No thank you! That is why I have to hide them in the other freezer for BS19!

But the water bottles are getting crazy! I started buying them for DH. He got really ill because he got severely dehydrated. He has a real problem drinking tap water...taste turns him off totally. We tried the filter pitcher, but every time DH wanted water, the pitcher was sitting empty in the fridge (all the kids actually guilty there, but SD15 wouldn't fill it up even if I tried the pitcher again...Miss "Leaves Empty Containers In Fridge And Pantry"). DH tells SD15 she can have 1 water bottle when she goes to bed. Well, like everything else where DH tells SD15 she can have "some", she interpreted that to mean that she can have water bottles whenever she wants! She goes through them like crazy, because she never finishes them. Go in her room on any given date, and there are a bunch of water bottles in there with half or less of the water drank. After a while, she will bring them to the kitchen, pour them all out, and throw the bottles away. I think after this next week, I'm going to start buying small packs and keeping them in my bedroom for DH only! She can go back to drinking tap water. I drink tap water all day...nothing disgusting about our water...and I drink at least 80 oz of the stuff every day! She doesn't like it, oh well. Also, with BS19 gone...no more frosted flakes...only toasted O's or shredded wheat! She can eat healthy, or not at all...no more of this eating all the junk food she can only to purge it!

BarkAtTheMoon's picture

SD19 is the same way with water bottles. When she was an athlete in hs she had enough water bottles in her car to build a raft with! I haven't checked her room in awhile so who knows?

Yes, I was going to suggest a mini-fridge for your boudoir with your treats in it. TGIHB on here had to do that. I think she might even have a lock on it, lol. I'm sure she'll chime in here about her Piglet and let us know.....lol

CantKeepDoingThis's picture

Oh...princess thinks with BS19 going to college, she gets what she wants! She doesn't get that BS19 is still my dependent, so I will still me funneling some money his way until he can fit a job into his schedule. And being the only "child" in the house does not mean the world revolves around her! Things she has said, that is exactly what SD15 thinks!

I'm kinda interested in seeing what that school year holds without "big brother" looking over SD15's shoulder! School calls? I'm not answering! I have no reason to answer! No more looking at SD15's grades, as I no longer have reason to log into the system. I've done my job as a parent for the last 23 years...it's DH's turn! My turn to do my thing, which is why I'm looking for this personal trainer job!

BarkAtTheMoon's picture

We were all just in the kitchen finishing dinner when SD19 came back from the gym. At dinner time. Whatever. I was clearing my place and throwing things away and DH asked me if there was another burger for SD19. Of course there was, you grilled it. He was basically asking me to SERVE her plate. Um, NO. DH was being his usual happy self and I had to force myself NOT to serve her.

ow he says a dog peed in the LR today. That's where I don't hang out anymore, so I can't help you all. Sorry.

I'm feeling lucky! SD15 came home...straight to her room without a word to me. Like you, I don't go out of my way to say hi. I'm pretty sure she is asleep again. DH is at MIL's fixing her brakes. BS19 is hanging with his little cousin who is going to miss him like crazy.

Enjoying my time being in control of my own TV! SD15's crap is still all over the TV room, but doing my best to ignore it.

CantKeepDoingThis's picture

Lol...too funny! Maybe that is why SD15 is punishing BM. Maybe BM can't find anyone to take her to all those expensive stores she likes for back-to-school! They've all caught on to the game!

CantKeepDoingThis's picture

Y'all gonna get a kick out of this one!

SD15 came home from band practice and went to bed. When DH came home and wanted to talk to her...just to see if she had a good day and all...SD15 had so much attitude and said she was soooooo tired and just wanted to go to sleep. She stomps off back to her room.

10 minutes later, we hear the front door! DH gets up and looks to see what is going on, and SD15 is on the front porch with a bunch of friends who showed up! She is now all of a sudden wide awake and wants to go with the friends to spend the night! Of course, DH let's her go. If it were me? Oh, after that attitude earlier, I would have said right in front of the friends, "Well, seeing as you had such a rough day and was so tired you were copping attitude with me just a short while ago, I think you need to go back in the house right now and get some sleep!" But....that is the difference between how I parent and how DH parents! I refuse to reward for bad behavior (which includes bad attitude). DH let's SD15 basically do what she wants regardless of attitude! Probably why my bios will be productive, independent people, and SD15...if she ever leaves this house will be unemployed asking some guy take care of her...like BM!

BarkAtTheMoon's picture

My DH is like that, too. I usually give in because it gets SDstb13 out of the house. If she wants to go to a sleep over I explain that her chores haven't been done and she hasn't showered, which is always the case. DH will tell her what she needs to do and it's done in an hour. Well that was months ago, she's changed now.

SDstb13 hasn't showered since Tuesday morning and it was gross at dinner. I didn't say anything to her. I know I shouldn't have, but later in private I told DH that it was gross and I didn't want her eating dinner with me when she hadn't showered for DAYS. He said he would make her shower this weekend. I'll try to keep my mouth shut.

The latest is SD19 and the phone charger. She got a new iPhone5 3 weeks ago and already ruined her charger. Evidently its a very small tab that plugs into the phone. I have one for my iPad Mini. Anyway, she asks SDstb13 for HER charger last weekend. Every night I see text messages between the two, popping up on the MacBook, where SD19 is asking for the damn charger. Last night when we only had SDstb13 at dinner, I told DH that he needs to make SD19 go buy a charger ASAP and leave the younger Skid alone. It just isn't fair that she's getting picked on, even though they both are annoying me right now.

DH sent SD19 to the store at 8:30pm last night and SD19 calls because they are SOLD OUT of that type of charger. Bwahahahah! DH suggests another store next door, but they are closed, I believe. I suggest the damn Verizon store. SD19 passes it twice on days she goes to work. "Oh no, it's too expensive there," replies DH. I told him too bad and to make sure the NEW charger goes to SDstb13.

Why? Because in 6 short days, SD19 has managed to start ruining SDstb13's charger. Little pins or wires are starting to stick out from the tab. I told him to send her to the next city over today and have her get a damn charger at the mall. End of story. Funny how this drama is playing out. SD19 has ruined TWO charges since early July, the one just in the past week, which SDstb13 has had since Christmas for her iPodTouch.

SD19 will have SO MUCH to contribute to the world one day.

I'm just mad because she sat home on her lazy ass all of these days this week when she should have bought the charger.

Oh...I'm sure you have read about SD15 and electronics! Nice long history there, and it isn't because she isn't provided the things required to protect them! The latest tablet...the 1st gen kindle fire DH gave her (no camera)...he gave it to her with a protective cover...one that has padding in the corners...extra lip so you can lay it face down and not scratch the screen. She took it off a week later! When DH asked about it, she said she needed to clean behind the cover and hadn't put it back in yet! I have the same kind of cover on my kindle fire hd, and you don't have to take it off to clean...very snug cover! She still hasn't put the cover back on! I give it 3 weeks into the school year, and it will be broken or "stolen"! She likes to take her tablets to school, and just tosses them in her bag! That's how she broke the last one.

I was writing all my son's football videos to discs today so I could free the space on my laptop, and I got thinking...my laptop is 5 years old! I use it all the time. I've had to replace the hard drive on it 2 years ago...but it was a brand of hard drive that has a high failure rate. The power supply needed to be replaced last month after a bad storm. The battery needs replacing, as it doesn't hold a charge for long (but anyone who has laptops knows that happens over time). Other than that, the laptop still looks new! A little wear on the paint of the left button of touch pad after 5 years of clicks...but no case cracks, no scratches...and I use it all the time! SD15 can't say that about any electronic after 6 months!

BarkAtTheMoon's picture

Update to the phone chargers from two posts up.....LMAO

The charger from the grocery store died today. At the hands of SD19, when this was supposed to be SDstb13's replacement charger. Evidently SD19 has continued to use it. This is the third charger in 3 weeks! She only bought it last Saturday. SDstb13 said SD19 was having a mental break down today because the charger wasn't working. So, SD19 took SDstb13 up to Walmart to look for more chargers. All they could find were the USB chargers at $18/each. I have been monitoring SD19s bank account and it came as no surprise when YSD said that OSD didn't have enough money to buy two. So SDstb13 had to use her own money!! I just gave SDstb13 cash to replace what she had to spend and I will be transferring the amount out of SD19's account into mine, once her paycheck clears. I told SDstb13 to keep quiet about the transaction. We can tell her later, or not. }:)

Turns out, SD19 was snooping through my bedroom looking for my iPad mini charger! I put it in my purse 3 weeks ago when this fiasco started. Glad I did. SD19 had never gone through my room looking for stuff before, but this time she was desperate. I just went and hid DHs adapter box that goes from wall outlet to USB, and I encouraged SDstb13 to do the same before SD19 gets home. SD19 was using SDstb13's adapter this afternoon with the new USB charger! OMG these skids are morons. SD19 has to have a new adapter because she got her new phone at the beginning of July. I told YSD to hide it or else it would end up going to the beach with SD19 and she would never see it again.

I told SDstb13 that her sister would be too lazy to get her own adapter box out of her room, and with any luck would break YSD's which was in the kitchen. So YSD and I both have all of our stuff hidden. I hope this doesn't start a pissing match tonight. This is DH's first night out of town.

Fingers crossed.
