Maybe her future isn't as bleak as I thought...

wth was I thinking's picture

SDstb10 could always make a career in acting. Not movies, but maybe a trashy afternoon soap opera or novella.
For some reason yesterday she had it in her hear that we were having pizza for lunch. I had made some soup (that the last time I made it, both skids LOVED and sucked it down surprisingly fast) in the afternoon, so that was what we were having. DH called both skids to the table for lunch, they had been in their room watching tv. She comes down the hallway fine as can be, gets to the table, stops dead in her tracks and says 'NOT PIZZA??'
DH says, no, this is what we are having, its better than pizza. Sit down. We all sit down, I start eating, SDstb9 starts eating with no problems (she is by far my favorite of the two)DH is eating. I look up to see tears pouring down SDstb10's face.
"DAAAADDDDDDYYYYYY my head hurts!!"
"You need to eat, and drink some juice."
"DADDDYYYYYY I HAVE A HEADACHE!!!!"
This nonsense went on for a few minutes, her just whining and crying. At one point I asked her 'what exactly would you like him to do for you? How can he help you?' She just looked at me with this vapid stare. She didn't understand. She just wanted attention, not actual help. DH finally got sick of it and said,
"Ok, go lay down, put this ice pack on your forehead and rest."
She laid down on the couch, SOBBING, loudly. The three of us continued eating, SDstb9 was kind of laughing, and she and I had a conversation about something, don't remember what. We finished eating, put our plates away, etc... DH goes over to Princess on the couch, I was standing a few feet away. Suddenly she pops up, and asks;
"Are we going to go see (friends kids from out of town) today??"
I said, 'oh no way, they are at the bounce house place, but with a headache like yours, there is no way you can go!'
"Oh I feel fine now!"
"Nope, sorry, you are way too sick to go out and play, you need to rest. Sorry, they will be back this summer"
The look of disappointment on her face, priceless. Like hell is behavior like that going to be rewarded. Or, on the 0.00001% chance she was being truthful, she did in fact need to rest. I have friends who get migranes, I know they do not pass in 8 minutes. DH told her to get up and eat if she was feeling better. He reheated her soup for her and sat her at the table. She started crying again. Said it was too spicy, even though there is literally nothing spicy in it whatsoever. Even her sister said she was full of it. This went on for about 10 minutes. DH made her a sandwich. UGGGGGHHHHH.
DH and I were in our room folding laundry, I asked 'you didn't believe any of that nonsense did you?'
"I don't want to talk about that right now."
Denial. Complete denial. That girl is going to be a nightmare as a teenager. Even the out of town kids and her own sister are starting to pull away from her and make fun of her for being such a pain in the ass.

/end rant.

The younger one and I had a good time, I taught her how to play the car game Rummy, and she got really good really fast. I only 'let' her win once. Couple other times she beat me on her own.
