Audacity 101

Ok, let me ask how you all feel about this. I got a message from my wife that SD15 called her from the school nurse's office complaining that her stomach hurts and she wants to go home. Bear in mind that she did the same thing about a week or 2 weeks ago, but blamed it on cramps. Today, she tells the school nurse that her stomach is messed up because her mother has been giving her too much junk food. Really? Who says that? Why try and throw your mother under the bus like that? And honestly, we don't have any more junk food than the average family. Am I wrong to feel offended??

The first time I read this I kind of laughed picturing one of my bios saying this... but then I re-read and saw that your SD is 15 not 5! That is utterly ridiculous and I would be offended as well. I'm a big fan of punishments that fit crimes. There would be no snacks/junk food or any kind for SD until the point got across. What is a vegetable that she will eat but doesn't particularly enjoy? Broccoli? Broccoli for dinner 5 nights in a row, and when she has the audacity to complain, you say "well, I didn't want you to be getting any stomach aches again for not eating the proper foods"... is your wife offended?

Yes, my wife is offended and said much the same of what everyone is saying here. There will be no more junk food for her for a while.

I would take every ounce of junk food out of that house and lock it away for you to enjoy. I would make her eat everything healthy and make a show of it. Your concern will be exaggerated and she will know that she did wrong....Teenage girls are just plain evil.

Teens are self-centered and stupid for their age. For all the wonder that kids exhibit while growing up into teens they seems to fall backwards for a few years. At least its normal.

I agree with the no-junk food routine for a few weeks - just to make the point. I remember as a kid my Dad would wait until we'd to go bed then cook popcorn. Did he think we couldn't hear or smell it? lol A great father otherwise that's the only "evil" thing I can think of that he did but I sure remember it. lol

Definitely eat some in front of her and when she asks tell her the school nurse said she was eating too much junk food and it needs to be cut out of her life FOR AT LEAST A YEAR. Of course in a week or so you'll forget what the nurse said.

I can see it now in a week or two when she gets a cookie and you say "I hope the school nurse doesn't find out they'll probably put you in a foster home so you'll get a proper diet".

It really is fun to lay with their heads.

No offense, but she DID try and throw her mother under the bus. She has censorship. Just last week, she CHOSE not to eat when I cooked dinner. She can choose to not eat cookies with her little sister. But she also chooses to eat danishes and other junk when she comes home from school, when there are better options available. No one is force feeding this girl junk food, trust me.
