Why is it that all of the fun school functions fall on the one night during the week that my stepson is at his mothers' house? Is there some kind of black cloud over our house? Do we have a curse put on us? What is it?

I just looked at the school calendar and Family reading night, the spring band concert and international night, all fall on the night that my stepson is at his mother's house. Which of course, she won't be home to take him to any of it. If he goes, he will have to be taken by her ex-boyfriend! Oh yeah, sure, there is never any homework on the night he goes to her house and all of the fun stuff is on those nights!!

Stepson doesn't even want to go with the ex-boyfriend, especailly to family reading night but he hasn't even thought of asking his mom if his dad can take him. That might upset her! Oooohh, we can't do that!

So, I guess my husband and myself don't get to do any of the fun stuff, just the homework, rules, grounding, etc. We will go to the band concert even if we won't have my stepson.

I keep hoping that my stepson will actually tell his mom that since she can't take him, he would rather have his dad take him instead of her ex-boyfriend. If we bring it up then it will seem like we are asking her for a favor or it will turn into a fight.

Ahhhhh! You just can't win for losing!
