My Ss started summer school yesterday. It coincides with the first day of Bm's first two weeks of summer vacation with him. Of course she didn't take off to take him. I am the one who will be picking him up from her house in the morning to take him to school, picking him up when school is over at 2:30pm and letting him stay with me until Bm picks him up from our house at 6pm.
Yesterday Ss was already here, so we left from our house. He fixed his lunch here, we had all of his school supplies ready and we gave him money for a soda. Everything went great! Then Bm picked him up at about 6:10pm last night.
This morning, I had to pick him up from Bm's house as she leaves for work early. First, ss wore his old shoes to Bm's so he called here to ask me to bring his newer shoes. No problem. When I got to Bm's house, Ss was ready and came out, changed his shoes and got in the car. I asked him if he had soda money. I guess that was my first mistake. He said "no". He told me that his mom won't let him get soda and he had to bring water. Then I asked what he had brought for lunch. He said that he had a salami sandwich with no cheese because his mom didn't have cheese. Then she didn't have any chips that he liked(she only buys what her 5 yr old likes) so he brought 5 Slim Jims instead! So soda was no good but all of that fat and salt.............yuck!!!He said that Bm tried to force him to take cold pizza for his lunch but there isn't a refrigerator that Ss can use at school. Ss was also mad that Bm made him get up at 6am when I wasn't picking him up until 7:30am. Then Ss went on about how Bm keeps harping on this bonding thing. Ss said that she was starting to annoy him. I don't know what to tell the kid. Bm is evidently in one of her moods where she wants to try to flex her motherly muscles. She's either really strict about stuff or really lax. There's no in between.
So, when we pulled up to school, I told Ss to shake it off and have a good day. He's got to deal with Bm until June 14th or 15th. I just hope his school work doesn't suffer.

Sounds like when he is with you all systems are a go. When he is with BM it's Houston, we have a problem (or several)!

I was gonna say I agreed about the water instead of soda thing until I read the part about the slim jims. I can hear his arteries hardening from where I'm sitting. She can't afford very much, can she?

He's almost 14
and summer school is only for one month. He has to go for two 3hr. classes.

McDonalds, order a double big mac supreme, large fries, and a DIET coke. Or water. Afterall, gotta watch those calories and fat grahams.
