Bm called here last night. I told ss to answer the phone because it was his mother. When he answered it, Bm asked him if he wanted to go to the stock car races Fri. night.
That's where he had to go last Fri. night with her. Only, she wasn't alone. She went with her former live in ex(that she wanted to get rid of so badly), that guys mother, the mother's boyfriend and the little 5 yr old daughter of Bm and her former live in ex. Can you say dysfunction!!?!?!
So, needless to say, ss wasn't all that thrilled about going. First off, he doesn't like the stock car races that much and quite frankly, I don't think he can figure out why Bm wants him to go with that group of people.
Ss asked Bm what he would be doing if he chose not to go to the races. Bm said that then she would have to stay home with him. Ss said that he then told Bm that "No" he would rather not go to the races. Bm proceeded to say "Oh whatever, then" and hung up on him!
Um, wasn't she the one asking if he wanted to go? If she didn't want to hear "No" then why ask. Just take him.
What is wrong with this woman? Why do that to your son? Why can't she get a life and stop going out with the former live in ex? It's just too weird!

the question because she was focused on her not wanting to parent her child----the "no" was expected.
The "no" is getting in her way. She wants to be rid of the responsibility. She isn't clever enough to think of an alternative way to get him to go (because she really doesn't want him there), so she did the obvious thing that would lead to the "no" to further prove that the kid is impeding her lifestyle.
Poor kid.
Some people just shouldn't have children. I am sorry that you have to deal with this Dawn.

Poor SS. She asked him, not told him, so she can't be pissed at him for not wanting to go. If she really wants to go to the races she can a.) hire a babysitter b.) pick him up after/next day at your house.

She already does
have a life, that is. It just doesn't involve her son most of the time. She needs to get less of a life and be a mom, like the rest of us.

This is so true
but the bad thing is that her current life does include her 5 yr old daughter by the former live in ex. She does all kinds of stuff with and for this child that she NEVER did for ss. Ss is no dummy and I'm sure he sees what's going on. That's probably why he feels abandoned by his mother and usually puts her feelings above everybody else's.
Bm has said before that she just doesn't know what to do with a boy. She blatantly favors the girl over ss.
What's even worse, is that ss had his last day of school yesterday and Bm didn't even bother to ask him how his last day of eighth grade went. Instead she hung up on him......NICE!

Update on the stock car races
When we picked ss up on Sat., he said that he ended up going to the stock car races even though he told Bm he didn't want to go. He said that once he got to his mom's house, she said that she wouldn't have anything else to do if he didn't agree to go to the races and that she thought that it was a bonding experience for them last Fri. when they went. Hahahaha! Now that is too funny. Ss doesn't like the races, they were there with like 4 other people, ss was totally oblivious as to what she was talking about yet somehow ss and Bm "bonded" at the races. What a hoot!!
