"Point of honor to bring her to tears before main course arrived"

ChiefGrownup's picture

Googled "wicked stepchildren" and a host of interesting results came up. This is my favorite one so far. She is writing as a stepchild who is now adult. She candidly states the only thing that made a stepmother successful--and she had a host of them--was her father putting the fear of god into her and her sister and throwing total support behind the woman. Further, she states he only did this for one woman and the rest she and her sister made a game of destroying and she thinks her dad secretly enjoyed the battles.

Never say no to me, by Teen Queen

Friday pickup SDnow15 lets her monster self shine through. She starts being foul toward both me and ss13 for no reason whatsoever. As usual.

So I shut her down. Not having it. She keeps talking back. Of course. Don't care, not having it. DH supports me. Then she starts in with the red face crocodile tears. I said, "we're on to you, the tears don't affect us." Or words to that effect, don't remember exactly.

Cursed with the Stepmother Crystal Ball. Grrr.

Many moons ago ChiefGrownup suggested we ought to invite SD15's boyfriend over for dinner. Get to know the chap. Be friendly. I was told that would be so "humiliating" and "intrusive" and generally straight from the wicked stepmother bag of tricks. I dropped it.

SD15 proceeds to have a terrible school year. Truancy. Notes from the teacher. Kicked down a level in one subject. Called into vice prinicipal's office for threatening another girl. Ends the school year with 3 Fs, 1 D, and 2 Cs. So she should not be in anybody's good graces, right?

SD15's BF's Dad

ChiefGrownup's picture

BF17 left a few days ago for his summer visit to his dad several hundred miles away. We look forward to this because we feel it's less to worry about these 2 being unsupervised for long chunks of time at BM's. Of course, we also think it's great for the boy and sets a good example for sd that he has a good relationship with his dad.

Glimmer of conscience from SD15? It'll pass

I took SS13 to secret shop for Father's Day. This is a challenge because as an autistic child it KILLS him to keep a secret! But he is learning and the 2 of us had a blast. I asked him to think of things dad does that we appreciate. Kid said, "Bes my friend." Heartmelt for CGU. I asked what we could give Dad to show how much we love him. "Write him a letter," he suggested. Score!

So skid picks out a gift and a card and I bought some stationery and had him write the letter in the car before we returned home.

Update on "white girl"

ChiefGrownup's picture

She got a C in the class thanks in part to getting full credit for the presentation that day and the "white girl" comment. Dh says her main presentation, not the part about the brownies, was an essay on holidays. He says the essay was "pretty negative." He didn't like it.

Random 4 year old OT

ChiefGrownup's picture

Mob of kids at a party yesterday. Dogs collected at my feet (I am redolent of Eau de Dog Slave). 4 year old I've never met oomes to play with doggies. So it's all happening virtually in my lap which is the height of the 4 year old as he crouches to pet the doggies.

I admire his cuteness cuz he's super cute cuz 4.

Then he squinches up his face in distress, "eww!"

CGU: "Aw, did the dog lick your face?"

R4YO: (Becomes aware of my existence/nods head "yes")

CGU: (hoping to get a laugh from cutie-pie) "Well, you can lick him back!"

BM treats Autistic SS13 Like an Air Fern

ChiefGrownup's picture

Really spitting bullets this morning. Couple months ago at the school carnival I paid for and ordered a yearbook for my stepson. I paid from my personal funds. Many teachers at that school have broken their backs for him and many, many children there have gone way out of their way to be kind to him. He also has some real friends he gets party invitations from, etc. I thought all those people counted.

SD15 really wows 'em at school or way to go, bm

SD15 has 3 solid Fs to end the term and the other 3 classes are a moving target of D-Cs. So last week BM informs us that for a presentation in one of these D/C classes upcoming, SD will be making a food item for extra credit. OK, great, maybe some Mom and daughter bonding time at last? in the kitchen? Teach the girl something? (BM is not a bad cook)

Over the weekend, kids are at our house now, BM reports she alone is making the food item while SD15 is at our house. Couldn't see that coming. *Sarcasm drips*
